Question about Crushing Blow

Hey everyone. This is my first post on this forum. I'd like to thank everyone for making such a great place to get D2 info.

I have a question. I have looked many places for an answer to this hand haven;t yet found one. Is there a cap on the maximum amount of Crushing Blow a character can have? If so, what is the upper limit. I am working on a DTalon assassin right now. I only have two sources of crushing blow from items but they add up to 68 crushing blow. (Stormlash and Guillems helm) I was wondering if it would be worth adding a ber to my stormlash to get more crushing blow.

Also, what do you think I should use as my trap. Should I do lightning cause it's high camage and can have corpse explosion. or Should I go fire because it would help with lightning immunes who I am a little weaker against because the static charges from stormlash don;t effect them.

I am building this character to be a hell baal solo mf runner.

Anyway, thanks so much for reading this and thanks for your advice. I would appreciate all the comments I can get. Have a good day everyone.

Welcome to the Assassin Forum. :)

While there is no artificial cap on CB%, amounts above 100% give no benefit.

Lightning will be far more effective than fire for most purposes.

Crushing Blow isn't capped, and at 100% or above it becomes an automatic effect. You still have to hit a monster/player tho, and this is where the rumor of "CB is capped at 95%" is from.

Thanks guys. Any thoughts on which aura merc I should use. I'm trying to decide on might or defiance.

You shouldn't need might because your relying on CB for damage. I would think a blessed aim merc to increase your chances of hitting. If you aren't worried about AR then defiance or holy freeze.

Because the base damage that melee sins deliver is relatively low (compared to barbs/pallies), I would actually suggest an A1 Rogue with Faith (if you can afford it) or a fast bow with an Ignore Target Defense mod (Eaglehorn, or better yet, a Jah'd Witchwild), and with a delirium helm. The lvl 18 confuse is a real lifesafer when you hit the throne room in a 3-4 player game, and the place is filled with dolls/souls/OK's

Also, I've found that the AI with Rogues is a little less irritating than A2's, who will stupidly rush a group of of IM-Casting OK's.

Thanks

Thanks. I would use faith but I"m on non ladder. Although I may try defiance some, I think I"m gonna go with blessed aim. I would like my chance to hit to be in the 90's instead of in the 80's.
