Question about Cobra Strike

Is there a separate hit check for the mana and life leech components?

I just made a new assassin and am in A1, just picked up cobra strike and I'm charging up tiger strike, then cobra strike and finishing off with dragon claw. Quite often (about 60% of the time) I only leech health or mana, not both. And a couple times I haven't leeched back either. Anyone know why this would be. If it helps I'm in the Tamoe Highlands right now.

Thanks in advance for any help.

No, as long as you have 3 charge-ups you should get mana and life.

You cannot leech life from undead, not sure about mana, but that could be what you are referring to.

I forgot about that you can't leech life from undead, however I'm still getting it with mana from time to time. I always charge up 3, and cobra strike is the last thing I charge before release so the charges shouldn't be timing out. It seems to happen mostly with skeles and fallen, weird stuff.

You can only leech up to the amount of damage the enemy takes right? Not the total damage you can deal. If so I may just be clicking on something with low health when I use my finisher.

I'm pretty sure you can leech from some undead (zombies iirc), just not skeles/fetish/etc. I believe having flesh is a logical requirement.

I'm also fairly sure it is damage actually dealt to the monster which is leeched. This is why you can do tons of damage but if the monster is physical immune you cannot leech at all because they receive no damage.

maybe your attacks were being interrupted? so it dispels the charges accumulated, counted as a hit, but was interrupted?

I've had some weirdness with CS as well when playing my DTailer. I knew I hit something, because monsters were dropping, but I wouldn't get any life. Happened even against monsters that definitely weren't leech immune.

I've never been able to figure out exactly why. My best guess is that there's some weirdness with to-hit calculations when using charges. But I think the bottom line is that you shouldn't rely on CS as a safety net.
