PvP WarCry/Zerker.. Thoughts?

Hi All,
I've started a new barb. I would really like to build a zerker barb for PvP. I don't care
if it's not the absolute 'Perfect' or 'Best' idea or not. I just want to make something
different, fun and decent. Oh ya, and I want to make him shieldless! ok, so now that you think
I've totally lost it... lemme tell ya what I'm thinking.

My Idea would be to have maxed zerk and maxed warcry, I'd wear one 10% fcr rare ring and have 2
wizardspikes on switch to get the 105% FCR breakpoint for teleporting and warcrying/battlecrying.

The idea would be teleport --> warcry --> battle cry --> warcry --> weapon switch --> Zerk.

The warcry woulden't not need to be synergized because the only thing I want from it is the stun length.
zerk would be maxed, and any left over points after zerk/warcry/mastery/BO would be pumped into Howl
since it would benifite both warcry and zerk.

Basically the build would try to capitalize on the great stun length of warcry and massive magic damage
that zerk could do with a high damage 2 handed weapon.

The problems I see are, because of the tight skill point allocation, and the fact that zerk would reduce
my defense to 0, Shout would be fairly low, Iron skin would only have one point, and using enigma would mean
that my defense will be laughable. On my Zerk switch I could pretty much wear anything I want minus the 10% FCR
rare ring. The rest of my FCR would only be needed when teleporting and warcrying and would be provided by the 2
wizard spikes. I think I could get a decent life pool, because I woulden't really need strength (because of enigma)
I'd have no use for Dex (other than AR) so Vit could be pumped really high.

haha squig this was actually the VERY first build i thought of making in .10. unfortunetely i never got to it due to lack of items. i dont htink it would work too well because of one major factor: after your stop wcing, the enemy is free to get out or initiate an attack. also i dont know about you but i cannot switch weapons quickly. dunno why but it tends to get stuck.

@dkay: Thanks for the comments .. just wondering, how long does the stun on, say a level 30 warcry last on another player (in hell). And when they are stunned by warcry what exactly can they do? Can they whirlwind out? teleport out? does Fast hit recovery help in any way? Unfortunatly I don't really have any PvP experience with warcry, when I was thinking of this I expected it to immoblize the opponent for at least a second to allow for the weapon/skill switching. The skill calc say it would be around a 6 second stun, I diden't expect it to be the full 6 seconds in PvP, but even 1/6 would be one full second, which (with some practice) should be doable..

stun which is defined in pvp by the swirly thing lasts for a couple seconds. doesnt mean they are immobolized. but if they get hit by anything during the peruid that the swirly is there, he will go into fhr animation no matter how waek or damaging the attack. whats so good about pure warcryers is that they keep a constant flow of crys going so that the opponent is either getting hit or blocking. even then they can escape by gradual walking (mentioned above). if you stop to attack with a weapon then they will definetely escape.

(sorry for the late reply.. you prolly forgot about this build already :p)

OOOOOOOOOH! I can't believe my luck! I just registered to this forum so i'm sort of new. I've been testing around a bit with barbs lately, and i've been thinking bout publising a WarCry/Zerker guide! That's why i registered here in the first place.

I'm writing a PvM guide, but this is stil very interesting. I have no idea how WarCry would work on Players. My own CW/Zerker has 5 seconds stun length, but i have no +Shouts skiller charms. So 6 seconds shouldn't be hopeless.

I will publish first draft of my guide tonight, i hope ppl will come and comment on it. I got decent damage (unless i compare to my Fury Druid =), and i can tank rather well, but my resists are hopeless. Also, i've made some very tough choices to make the skills stretch.

I can get my resists up to +40 on hell, if i had better equipment, but after that it's all charms. Anywayz, i'm back in 4 hours, i'll write WAY more about this build then.

Look forward to it please.

take your time and make it as perfect as possible :) good guides take time to write. good luck with your guide and try your barb in pvp as well to test its effectiveness. good luck and welcome to the forums

It will be very hard to make this work in pvp. The stun length of WC is always the same in pvp regardless of the level. The swirly duration increases with level, but that isn't very important in pvp.

The problem is that you cant reach a fast fpa with berserk so they will easily get out of the stun. They will also often block your first berserk, allowing them to run or tele away. Going straight singer is much more effective because you will be connecting with constant warcries cast at 7-8 frames so while the damage is lower, it is much easier to stunlock them.

If you really want to make a pvp zerker I think you know it won't be the strongest of builds, but I would build it without warcry. I would put points into berserk, synergies, BO. mastery, and ~5 into leap. I guess you can't max all of those unless you get up really high level, but you can decide which to max. I would play him like a caster killer ww barb, just leap, tele, then zerk them. I don't see the benefit of casting warcry before attacking since you will only get in 1 zerk anyway, and it will be less damage since you put points into wc. I would wear 2X hoto on switch, along with an arach and a fcr ring to raise your leap level while hitting the 105 fcr breakpoint.

warcry and zerk does not work too well with each other. when u get close to ur enemy, u should zerk them instead of using warcry. so i dont suggest this build. i did go with pure zerker will be better.

My guide is more or less finished now, until i get some feedback that is. But it doesn't look like i got any attention at all.

:(

Anyway, like i said, i haven't tested much PvP yet, and i expect it won't be a blast, but for PvM War Cry and Zerk is awesome. Plus it's really fun!
