PVP Trapper Help

Hello. I haven't been posting very much. Mostly I just stalk around.

I play on USEast NL by the name of a lvl 76 assassin, lm_Weak. I do 11k trap dmg. I am a W/S type. I always have at least 65% fcr. 102% fcr if necessary. About 2.45k life with a bo on. 1.6k without. One major problem for me is dueling against chargers or pallies that do charge. Ones that don't desynch are less of a problem, but the ones that are are the ones that are very hard hitting or desynch very good. I usually don't stand a chance against melee pallies.

My usual strategy is to lay a circle of traps fairly close with me inside. Then I spam mb at my feet when I see them charging at me on the minimap. And then it's usually this situation that happens:

Pally hits me, and I get one mb in to stun him for 1 second in place. I tele a few screens away and lay traps as fast as I can around me and spam mb again. Pally charges at me again. This usually repeats until I die. But if I stand my ground, the pally usually can get out of the mb lock. If I get unlucky, I don't have a chance to tele away, and the pally smacks me to death. Or then they get smart and charge out of my mb range when they get close to me, and THEN smack me to death.

If I go offensive, that's just running naked in no-man's land.

Now, what should I do to have a fairer chance against this type of class? Or is it that I don't have a hope in this deep pit?

EDIT: Also, the pallies usually have a little light absorb. Probably a T-Gods. So they last a while. And I duel in Nightmare mode usually.

perhaps if you could wear an ss if it doesnt slow u down too much? dr is good. also you could always try to wear him down bit by bit instead of going for the fast kill. play with patience and wait until he makes a mistake. may i ask what % block you have? perhaps C/C setup would be better if u had a good % weapon block.

A few things. One, level. 78 is too low to be seriously compedative. Two, you should try and dodge the pally, but within your trap field. Stay slightly out of reach. Aim to mb them BEFORE they reach your traps and while they're near them. Use wake of fire, it lags the screen and show desync, so place one a short distance from yourself. A Stormshield isa good idea as suggested.

Also, you might find that running (yes running) away from a smiter is a good idea, as often trying to tele will get you hit. Run a short distance, then mb and tele.

Try MBing at your feet in the direction they are coming from, you might get em.

And always have 65 FCr absolute minimum.

Thanks for the advice.

I did try a Stormshield. My maximum block I can get is around 60% I think.

I tried to use wake of fire, but their charge was somehow too fast for the flames to reach them lol. And of course, when I ran, I get rammed into. The pally keeps charging in circles around me, and it's really hard for me to get an mb in. My traps usually can't keep up with his speed.

I also used the method of leaning against the walls, so he couldn't sneak up behind me. That was the only way I had a 50/50 chance to win.

About the concern of my level, I like to stay level 76 to duel others around my level . They usually hang out in NM games.

I think it'd help balance the playing field out if you dueled at a higher level because the skills your build has problems facing are skills that "inherently" cause problems for your build, whereas your skills do not inherently cause problems for the builds your build has problems facing, so by adding say, another 10 skill points you'd increase your damage output significantly (and those points mean less to the builds your build has trouble with because they are less about damage and more about the simple fact that they work against your build, so the "balance" here is the large bumps in damage output that you get per point at this point in the game), and this in itself should help you win games.

I may or may not know what I'm talking about. :)

Phesto makes good sense. It's a lot easier for gear depended melee to be strong in the upper 60's - 70's where Hi's are usable that it is for synergy dependent casters.
