If you build a flawed character fine, but stop bitching about it when someone points out your idiocy by negating your only form of attack.
while agreeing with most of your post, you're whining about single-element attack chars in a thread about a singer pvp-barb, whose only means of attacking is physical damage, not even a chance at a decent attack elsewhere, as the points to get to berserk are required elsewhere, and you don't have any chance to dish out decent melee-damage using say azurewrath, famine or other high-elemental/magic damage-weapon, not to mention your attackrating would suck entirely so you wouldn't hit anyone with halfassed defense or better.
same goes for pvm, due to the sheer power of fully synergized chars, alot of people accept the fact that they won't be able to deal with everything, and usually find ways to work around this using a merc of some sort. (a good idea for pvm and physical builds like this one or say the pure strafeazon would be an act 2 merc w/ reaper's toll, to negate some, if not all, of the physical immunes out there, or amp damage charges, same as alot of elemental builds may carry a wand of lower resist. often these builds are geared towards a specific area of mfrunning or pvp, where it is indeed mostly considered BM to overexcessively use absorb and stacked resists. like mentioned in a mageslayer-sin guide, what's the point of duelling if you're at no risk in a fight? an example would be my own mageslayer sin, who, at lvl 47, is a real glasscannon, as i tend to duel sorcs and sometimes other casters who're 20-30 lvls higher than me, and while i can kick the stuffing out of most of 'em, their attacks are indeed dangerous to me, one-two hits will mostly kill me. but the fun in playing this char is how some of those townguarding public-game lame *****s whine, piss and moan when a lvl 47 just kicked their butt.
now, on to the guide itself, it's quite nice, i'd say, geared towards people with plenty of items availible, but that's life if you want a strong dueller these days, and especially with some of the more rare builds, especially with barbs, who are some of the most equipmentdependant chars out there.
