PvP/PvM all-rounder Assassin build.. (C-Beat's)

I just need to lay my thoughts and questions out before I go and waste points

Sorry, it's a bit all over the place, this will be my first Assassin and so I dont really know much, was hoping for a good PvM build, but also not too bad at PvP


So really I need to decide on where my spare skill pts will go.. i.e. - Fade or BoS - and traps or MA skills

Unless you are extremely good at traplocking people with Mindblast, I don't think it'd be viable as a serious PvP character. Your kicks won't be of much use without maxed Venom and a ton of Shadow GC's (I think you lack AR too, but I'm not too sure since I don't play kickers), and your trap damage suffers because of the points spent in Dtalon. For PvP, you'll have to choose between either a kicker or a trapper, there's really not enough skillpoints to make a hybrid viable.

For PvM...not really my area of expertise, but I think you'll be fine. :)

Yeah I thought that would be the case, I would only have a duel every so often, so I really dont care.. it's much more PvM based


So, in PvM, is it more viable to go with maxed out traps, with some kick, or maxed out kick (venom etc..) and maxed death sentry, but not maxed CBS and LS

A pure lightning trapper is one of the most viable (if by "viable" you mean "powerful") PvM builds out there. LS shreds anything not lightning immune, and for LI's you have DS and your merc. With enough +skills and some practice, a lightning trapper is fairly decent at PvP too, although Guardian Angel + Tgods effectively negates even the most damaging lightning attacks.

Great, well that sorts that, I will be maxing CBS and LS in that case

IIRC there is an armour that increases a random elements (fire lit or cold) by 20% or something? Sorry, havent played d2 in a long time :p

Guardian angel is an armor that give +15% MAX RES to all element. So you can get 90% res all and you can up this to 95% with the belt thundergod's vigor.

Edit: PWND, didn't read carefully enough.

I think steve is referring to Ormus's Robes which gives +10-15% dmg each to fire, lightning, and cold. Unfortunately, traps are considered minions and don't benefit from the boost, nor do they benefit from -resist gear.

I don't think the increased lightning/fire damage from Ormus will work with traps...the game considers them minions, so they don't get those kinds of bonuses....Griffon's Eye doesn't work either.
