PvP maul werebear question

Now I know a lot of people dont have these since there isnt a lot of success with them but I am currently working on 3 different werebears and many many different setups. Actually just wrote a 3 page outline of about 9 different setups ranging from defensive/deadlystrike/pure max damage and all based on vitality vs. titan vs. mix stats.

Okay here is the question: What fhr is necessary in pvp melee combat. I know everyone says 86 fhr (6 frames). However when I have tested (on wolf mind you) I find out that after you hit 42 fhr(4 frames) hitting 86(3 frames) on wolf isnt essential. But i also found that zero on wolf (7 frames) you tend to see that fhr is essential.

I'm wondering is there kind of a breakpoint in which fhr isnt essential because of block rate and attack speed. If so what bp is that. A lot of my builds are based around 54 fhr and I would hate to invest only to find out that i need 86 fhr.

edit: I noticed my numbers were a bit off .... if with zero fhr my wolf has problems at 7 frames. And 7 frames is what a bear is at with 54 .. then maybe I need 86 fhr. Thanks for the help so far please keep the comments coming.

wolves probably dont need as much since
1. its natural to them
2. fury MAY be uninturrptable (not sure on this one)
either way fury is a "click and see 5 hits" where as a werebear has 4 frames of single attacks so id say 96 is a requirement... esp when dueling classes like barbs and other 5 time swingers (pallies and wolves and kickers)

With my fire claw bear, I have problems dueling with less than 86 fhr. The problem is I lose. A Lot.
Thanks for this post ... I forgot I made a really good fc bear awhile ago and he only hit the 54 fhr bp. But since a lot of people in here seem unexperienced it seems that experments need to be done.

I was dueling someone's fc bear (dully's?) a while ago and he had better stats in everything but fhr. I beat him 3 out of 3 times.

I think its really important.

152 (5 frames) is the one to aim for.

Recommended setup for this:

shael jalals = 50
105 max, 31 fhr armor
bloodfists = 30
verdungos = 10
eth treks = 20
grand charm +1 skills = 12

grand total = 152

or you could go for the hybrid, which is probobly better all around and use stone which would be more like:

shael jalals = 50
stone = 60
fists = 30
dungos = 10
small charm = 5

grand total = 155, exceeding the breakpoint.

ink how baout shadow dancers? very niceboots with high def/ 30% fhr/ 25 to dex. i think that would be a nice option as well.

152 for 4 framers, but IF the bear is VERY offensive with lots of ar, you can go off with 86.

Zeal/Fury/Other are all x(5+)/4/4/4/4... hits, IF you get that first hit all the time, 86.

If not 152.

hope that helps

actually shadow dancers may be better for a titan mauler. i didnt even think about em. thanks man!

31 armor, 30 dancers
30 fists, 10 belt,
50 helm

OMG misses by 1 fhr, but it allows you to ditch the 12 fhr charm in favor of a 5er.

uh uh. 30 fhr makes them not bad, but deadly strike/cb/ow or straight plus damage from travs makes dancers a distant 3rd choice.

152 ouch ... Thats a whole lot of fhr .. I think it might actually be an overkill, I think I'll stick with 86 max.
