    PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

I wanna make a new PvP char, and I think it's a fury/rabies wolf. I'm pretty much a druid nub, and have never used rabies, fury, or even werewolf, so I've got a few questions. Also, in situations where I've said something like "X or Y", feel free to suggest something completely different. FWIW, I already read the spf pvp fury/rabies guide and the bnet one in the druid forum, as well as spending some quality time with the search function.

    (1) one handed or two handed?

    (2) if one handed, max block?

    (3) if one handed, grief pb or 1.07 oath cryptic? if two handed, ribcracker or what?

    (4) jalal's or cerebus? I'd like to think I can hit 4-frame FHR without jalal's without too much trouble, but 3-frame might be a lot trickier. edit: my cerebus is 138%def, 10%ll, 118%ar, +4shape

    (5) forti, right?

    (6) cta or plague bearer on switch?

    (7) durf.

    (8) what else am I forgetting?

    Thanks for the help!

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

    1. One handed when you need Stormshield, 2 handed vs casters.
    2. Yes.
    3. If One handed grief pb, if 2 handed Tomb Reaver.
    4. Jalahs for more FHR and resists. Cerebral for OW and AR. 3 frame FHR is not needed, unless you are having a very tough time against a trapper.
    5. Yes
    6. I blame
    7. Background on why you chose this build.

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

I basically chose it by process of elimination as follows:

Amazon: couldn't think of anything that inspired me.
Assassin: already have a trapper, not ready to make a chaos yet, and also just matted one.
Barbarian: already have a whirler, also just patted one, also playing one in a tourney
Paladin: just patted two, and likely going to start a third shortly.
Necro: already have a boner, also questing one
Sorc: actively used for most of my MF'ing and such, don't want to quest one atm

...which leaves druid. I don't want to do a windy at this exact moment, and this was the next pvp option which looked interesting. If you've got good suggestions for other pvp amazon or druid builds, I'd love to hear them. I'm mainly looking to make one so I'll have something other than my fire sorc for mp baals - the only thing I really do in the mp games is level pvp chars for future use.

edit: here's my tomb reaver. Am I gonna need better resists since it's used as the anti-caster version, or should I just be glad of the perfect sockets and ed? And what should I stick in the sockets?

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

Amazon class is easy to choose, you go for the awesome bowazon. I supposed there are the semi-interesting builds like the Sidewinder and Lightning Javazon.

The only other Druid builds are probably the Fire Druid or Fire Claws Bear.

If you really need the resistance, just swap charms. I think you can get a 7/4 fury with 2 shael. You can stick an Um in it for more open wounds.

    I laughed out loud. Literally.

Also, so as not to be complete spam, I agree with everything Zhao said. Just make sure that you have over-stacked resistances with your caster setup -- especially cold.

You can also do pure Fury Druid.

Talk about a blast from the past, I havesn't seen you since Kabal's Ear Cutting Olympics when you used you Throwbarb.

Yeah, I took a looooong break from D2. It was much needed, I think.

I remember the tourney. I remember quite distinctly getting my *** handed to me repeatedly. I guess that performance doesn't give me much right to discuss PvP strategy, but I know the theory well enough, if not the actual mechanics.

It was a shame because your build was a good idea, but no block hurt you pretty bad. Quite a few physical attackers in that tournament unfortuately.

I actually made a thrower after being interested in yours and added a weapon/shield secondary and used javalins instead and he did alright.

That's nonsense, if tournament performance is a gauge on how much you can contribute in a PvP discussion, Liquid would have had to change his name to Silent_Evil a long time ago.

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

Okay, I've been looking at gear, and from what I can tell, the only piece I can stat around is raven frost - every other piece I use that provides stats has an alternative piece that doesn't. This means I'll have to have 165 hard points in strength and 178 hard in dex at level 90, and I'm nervous about my life pool. Will I be able to pull enough life to be viable (I'm planning on maxing oak sage), or should I leave myself less flexibility and stat around something else?

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

Hel Shael Shael the Tombreaver takes you to 156 strength for the Stormshield.
My wolf is in A1 Hell at the moment. I'm not planning on taking my Jalal's off, so that gives another 20 Strength.

I think you will be OK for life, but I haven't done all the sums yet.

    Edit:
As I have just finished NM, at lvl 75:
    136 Strength
    178 Dext
    lvl 31 Lycanthropy
=1.5K life shifted. All points now go into life until lvl 90.

    Edit2:
Take Zhao's advice over mine any day

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

Druids only get 2 life per 1 vitality, so I don't think the 18 life you get from Hel'ing the Tomby will benefit you much.

If you want to boost your life, you probably should focus on vita SC. There is also the double whammy of Spiritual of Life skillers.

Yeah I was already pretty much planning on having my inv be largely +life since +dmg isn't really gonna be a huge deal. I don't want to stat around jalal's to give me the option of wearing my cerberus. I just have it ingrained very deeply into my head that I need to pull as much life as possible out of pvp chars, and having to take two non-vit stats well past 150 was scaring me.

    Don't forget Oak Sage.

Don't worry, I'm just pretending to know what I'm saying. :wink3:

The reason I suggested UM was because OW works very well in conjunction with Rabies. When you have Tomby out, you are usually chasing casters or some type of runner and most of you damage in that match would probably come from those 2 things.

BTW, build a bowazon. You have a Fortitude so you have no excuse.

    Re: PvP Fury/Rabies Questions

I plan on it. I've been planning on using this:

    Soul Fletch
    Great Bow
    'Shael'
    Two-Hand Damage: 63 to 274
    Required Dexterity: 107
    Required Strength: 121
    Required Level: 51
Bow Class - Very Fast Attack Speed
    Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
    Item Level: 86
    Fingerprint: 0x5e9d6838
    +426% Enhanced Damage
    +185 to Attack Rating
    +1 to Maximum Damage
    4% Life stolen per hit
    20% Increased Attack Speed
    123% Damage to Undead
+83 to Attack Rating against Undead
Level 9 Magic Arrow (63/63 Charges)
    Socketed (1: 1 used)

since WF isn't usable. That a good choice, or is there something else I should use? I've got pretty much anything that doesn't include botd or faith available as far as bows go.
