PVP build Idea: The Multimancer aka The BoneViper

The BoneViper/Multimancer presents skills from ALL THREE skill tabs in duels. Fully powered at level 99!

Been thinking of the following pvp build idea, which might offer a bone necro better chances against certain opponents due to the addition of the second attack of poison nova. Skeletons/mages/revives are added as needed.

Magic Damage

20: Bone Spirit
20: Bone Spear
10: Bone Prison
5: Bone Wall

Poison Damage

20 Poison Nova
10 Poison Explosion
5: Poison Dagger

Curses (Optional)

1 Point into all except dim vision, confuse and attract. (The only spell you really absoultely need is lower resist which could be spammed at a distance from "a switch" move).

Summons (Optional)

1 point into all. (If you feel you don't need meat shields/laggers/fhr sources, then by all means add these points into your poison/bone skills).

Stats

Enough strength for gear: enough dex for max block: base energy: the rest goes into vitality.

Actual stats might be with optimal gear:

Base Strength (20 str anni 20 str torch mage plate enigma: takes care of all strength)

Dex (About 145 -- 20 dex anni 20 dex torch 20 dex on circlet, 20 dex on Amulet) You can subtract another 20 dex and add it to vitality if you want to be married to ravenfrost.

Vitality 400 or 420 with permanent ravenfrost

Base Energy

Equipment

Helm: 2OS, Plus 2 Necro Skill, 20% FCR circlet (Ber, Ber)

Amulet: Plus 2 Necro Skill, 20% FCR

Weapon: Wizard Spike (Socketed with good rare jewel--fhr, cold resist, res all, etc). You could substitute death's web but your stacked resists and fcr will take a hit. Maybe keep in stash for massive poison stackers.

Armor: Enigma

Shield: Homunculous (socketed with Ber)

Gloves: Trangs

Belt: Arachnid

Rings: 2XSoJ or 1 Soj 1 Ravenfrost or 2x wisp or 2xDwarf etc.

Boots: Sandstorm Treks

Switch: Call to arms, Spirit

Prebuff: Treachery, CTA

Charms: Anni, Torch, P/B & Summon (for prebuffing) Skillers, and small charms (arrange to get 86fhr breakpoint)

This tentative build/set-up offers:

130% FCR (important for movement and creating IBS).
86% FHR
47% Physical damage reduction
Max Block
Minimum Stacked resists of 145 (Cold 175). These will likely be a bit higher however because I didn't consider the possible resists that could be on the circlet, ammy, and rare jewel.

Overall the gear could withstand a wide variety of attacks, which is what you find in pub duels.

The pvp magic/poison damage works out to be about 1/2 that of a pure boner/poisoner, but I'm thinking the poison nova attack would more than make up for it in terms of flexibility against certain classes (druids, ES sorces, others).

The skeleton damage/life is about 1/3 of that of a pure summoner, but they would still hurt and make nice meat shields, laggers, and fhr makers.

What do you think? Suggestions/improvements are appreciated.

I've seen similar hybrids and they look like fun. I thought of making a psn nova/bone hybrid but I wasn't sure if i could deal w/ the lower dmg.
That'd be a real sacrifice w/ this build.
Make it and let us know =)

I'm leveling him right now: The name "BoneViper" was open!

Probably not be able to go with max block because the crafted ammy/rare circlet might take awhile to find

Also I probably could only afford plain skillers in the near future (I found one a couple of days ago), which means I'll probably have to use Spirit shield for fcr and fhr. This will also mean I'll have to place more points into strength because I have no anni nor torch. :jig:

Probably revive of choice in a duel would be those lightning shooting thingies is wsk?

Yeah you're right. I think I'll just place the stats where they need to be as if I had the right equipment. Then just keep working my mf hammerdin until he can get it all together.

I'd be really careful about making a complicated hybrid with plain skillers and mid-range gear. From my experiences with V/T and WW/Trapper I've found that hybrids really only reach their potential with godly gear. This is because they make sacrafices in damage, life and/or defensive attributes that cookie cutters don't need to make. If you try this with weak gear and it sucks, consider that maybe you should save it for later in your career when you have better items.

I'd choose one attack (spirit or spear) and leave the other at lvl 1, put the other points in bone wall / prison. Wall is a great utility to stop desynch, and it can take some hits for you.

You could also use heads/wands spawned with curses/summons to save you some skill points..

EDIT: Instead of Spirit on switch, use a splendored head with +golem and +curses. You lose 1 skill on BO, but you gain a few hard points.

I like the idea. We need more hybrids.

I was thinking of something similar, only no nova and more points in summons: thinking skellies over mages, but I'd have to think about it. Definitely not both.

20 points in skel mastery for sure. Revives would then be a bonus even with just one point. No paladin is going to hit you with a charge if you have minion stack, bone armor and block.

You'd have to rely on minion stomp to kill sorcs though...and they might just tele around for 2.5 minutes till your mins die...thats the only thing stopping me from making this build.

I have to say, the few times I've seen necros with strong minions, they clean house. Lower resist and amp +minions and prison with bone spirits...evil...
