Lightsorc for pvm by lemonfish(aka rynke)

Introduction

Hi I’m lemonfish(aka rynke)
I wanted to make a lightning sorc, because I heard they were powerfull at pvm, and yes I can honestly say they are, she's the fastest pitrunner and keyrunner I have ever seen. This is not for the poor people, if you want a cheap one then use tal arm, amu and belt, ocu and so on.

Str: Enough for gear after torch and anni
Dex: base
Vita: Rest
Energy: base

Items:

Hoto – resist, skills and fcr, and no crappy telethingy.

CoH – I made mine in dusk, because of the res, mf, str and skills.

Mara – Res, skills and stats, what more u want?

Arachnid – Fcr and skill.

Shako Umed – Stats, mf, life, mana and skills with res from Um.

Spirit Monarch – Skills, res, mana, fcr and fhr.

Magefist – fcr, mana reg and 1 more point to warmth!! tongue.gif

WT – mf and stats

Sojs – skills and mana

Or exchange one with a fcr ring to get the last lightning bp(117 fcr)

With this gear u have 115 fcr, which is enough for the 105 tele bp, which is fine imo.

On Switch:

Cta+spirit – life, mana and 1 skill.

With this gear u will do about 25k dmg with lightning and about 10k chain, which is more then enough for pvm. U have about 250 mf with some 7 mf's and a gheeds 40, which is enough imo.

Charms: Torch, anni, few lightskills, gheeds, 7 mf sc’s and 5 all res for max res.

Charged Bolt: 20 – a synergy to ur attack

Lightning: 20 – ur main boss killer after a couple of statics

Chain Lightning: 20 – ur leftclick attack, it’s ur main-attack

Lightning Mastery: 20 – a pure power boost

Nova: 20(last upgraded) – a synergy to ur attack

Static Field: 1 – use it on bosses until they have half life.

Telekinese: 1 – to steal gold in pub baalruns ^_^

Teleport: 1 – this is how u move around, and to make merc keep up and keep him from dying.

Warmth: 1 – Mmm mana reg.

Frozen Armor: 1 – a bit more def.

Str: Enough for hear after torch and anni
Dex: base
Vita: Rest
Energy: base

Places to Mf-run:

Countess – Good for runes and terror keys

Arcaine – only do him if u want hate-keys

Nihlathak – Can drop everything and u can get dest-key from him.

Mephisto – The good old meph, he takes maybe a min to get to and drops lots of items.

Shrenk+Eldritch – They have decent drops and takes two secs to kill.

Chaos sanc – 3 Super uniques and dia, I’ve found most of my sojs there.

Baal – Super uniques who can drop everything and so can baal, what’s not to like? But watch out for
souls.

Andy – I’ve found a couple of sojs there.

Pits – My favorit, the monsters are weak, this is where I’ve found all my elite stuff like CoA's and stuff, and best of all u raise lvl's down there and it takes a min to clear with this lightsorc.

Use merc act2 holyfreeze(defense nm) with:

Eth CV/CA infinity

All the standard options like: Eth Forti, eth CoH, leviathan or shaftstop with gaze, andy’s face or whatever u like.

I prefer: Infi CV, leviathan for dr and str and a gaze 20 dr 8 lifeleech.

With this gear he can tank baals minions of destruction with ez.

And I do not play hardcore whatsoever, and I wouldn’t recomment this for hc, because u can die, if u’re unlucky, u don’t have Es or lots of dr, remember that.

ty for reading.

Let the flame begin

uh, we already have 2 lightning sorc guides in the library. Were you trying to make a guide? You pretty much got it right, but you forgot the griffon helm (-enemy light resistance and more FCR so you do hit the 117% breakpoint). This is a pretty standard build.

Check these two links out if you need help

http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=563
http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=368816
u don't need griffon for pvm, that's why i didn't mention it :)

and the main reason, u get 50 mf from shako and life and mana are always welcome.

and no thx, know all i wanna about lightsorcs :p

And yes it's a std build, but apparently not everyone knew that, i've been asked a couple of times about mine, so just decided to make a small guide out of it.

Hm, standard Lightning Sorc with 1.11 item adaptions. Sounds okay. I guess what Magechick said is, that thoroughness in the guide is missing, but maybe that is not required. Sticky this a bit.

Personal remark: I would like to see this all in full sentences which would make the whole guide more enjoyable to read form the start.
Otherwise the needed content is all there.

Also not all people know the abbreviations and so new questions arise. Short glossary would help.

Rynke, heya. Good to see another LightSorc afficionado.

A note on Infinity for mercs: you might want to check out this thread, started by MageChick: http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=494775

It's an extensive discussion of which polearms are most and least effective for A2 mercs. Turns out that--in terms of actual damage over time, chance to activate mods, and requirements--CV and CA are the two worst polearms to choose.

No offense, but this is the exact same thing as "The Original Light Sorc Guide" that we already have in the library. The skills are the exact same. The gear is the exact same. What am I missing here? Was the original guide missing something that this provides?

The original guide is missing the "leet" 1.11 runeword gear for Sorceress, which makes playing Sorceress even easier than before ;). That's about it.

Either updating the existing guide or making this a 1.11 guide that is at least as detailed as the original would be the solution. Also considering taken into account other sources, like the one about the different polearms for example and so forth.

rynke, with all due respect for your short guide, guides getting put in the library should be readable by anyone, also people who start out. They might not have the wealth to make this build when they start out, but will all abbreviations and such explained some will surely aim for this build.
This is not just for the yet wealthy who were once poor as well ;)

Besides its all nice to hear about the sojs and all the stuff for runewords that you found, but seriously that has NOTHING to do with the build, but your luck at finding items. I am happy for you that you have been finding so much nice stuff, but i would rather mention that as an afterthought at the end of the guide.

Just wondering why you got Hoto and Um'd shako when you already using CoH?

CoH = 65
Maras = 30
Anni = 20
Torch = 20
Anya's = 30

You're already pretty close to max so a Eschuta w/ facet would give way more benefit than the hoto hrm? Or if your Mara's/Anni/Torch arent good res you could keep the Hoto but then Ist/Jah/Ber/Facet your shako?

I guess I'm just not seeing what equipment the original guide is missing. What new 1.11 runewords is it missing? It has CoH, Griffons, Eschuta, Infininity Merc etc. It even gives a good comparison to the various pieces of equipment out there (i.e. griff vs shako).

Sorry still don't see it.

In Hell difficulty, chars have -100% resistances as default. Anya's x3 only comes in after that. Which makes -70%. Assuming the Mara's, Anni and Torch are perfect, that makes +65%. Even if they aren't perfect, Spirit will pretty much bring cold, lightning and poison to a minimum of 70% resist or above. Any deficit in fire resist (FR) can be made up by 11% FR small charms. This leaves the helm socket free for something other than resists, like MF or a facet.

So yes, a +3 Eschuta's with an open socket is probably better than a HotO in this build.

The FCR will vary between 105% to 115% depending on the Spirit monarch rw. The build would need a Spirit with at least 27% FCR and a 10% FCR ring to achieve the 117% L/CL breakpoint, which I would recommend achieving.

The sojs were ment as examples to what powerfull items you can find at for example andy's, nothing ells.
