PvM - grief + ???

Well I've planned a WWbarb a long time and but couldn't figure out the best weapon build.

I'm a speed freak and I want to kill stuff as fast as possible.

Grief BA + Beast BA seemed the fastest but..

Having to pay that much for repair after two baal runs is kinda discouraging ~~

Tried two griefs (pb to avoid the sick repair costs) too, and grief + death, but for some reason I can't decide which is the best and fastest

any tips?

err.. how many HR and Hel derune attempts it take to get a perfect +15%ED|+400|+40%IAS|+15LIFE|-25%POISON RES Grief Zerker?
I'd say it took you over 50 attempts, and your worrying about repair costs?
Please don't admit to us here that you bought it off Ebay or whatever...

personaly i use a griefpb+azurewrath for my pvm/keyrunner..but yer an axer. id go with grief+death, my grif is almost perfect(-24%EPR) and it only took me 1 try...i got exxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxtreamly lucky

@Jednowlosy: use non-superior grief for low repair cost. Use 2x botd zerkers if you dont want to repair anything. 2x grief pb's works too but who makes a sword barb anyway? In mass-player hell games stack up on crushing blow to kill fast (guillaumes face, gores/goblin toes, etc).

haha I'm not dumb enough to buy perfect runewords for cash, neither to make chars without a proper test first.

This is ofc single player grief imported with hero editor and tested with plugY. Don't get jealous guys, this item doesn't exist on bn ^.^

I have a couple of perf runewords on BN but grief seems to have too many variables to even think about one! rop:

Thanks for the tip, xxxkillerxxx. I'll remove the superior bonus in heroeditor and check the repair costs.

EDIT: you were right xxxkillerxxx. Repairing non-superior grief from 11 to 26 dura costs only 7000. That's not that terrible!



but the question remains.. double zerker grief or grief+beast? Which deals more damage? I'd use the weapon damage calculator but I don't know how to calculate damage for two weapons ww. Do they combine and count as one superweapon when counting the WW damage? Or do they apply their damage separately. In such case double grief would be superior, isn't it? It has 20% deadly strike more, too.

2x grief do more raw damage and will kill packs faster until late hell with 5-8 players where the crushing blow on beast even things out. I would still use 2x griefs and get cb from other gear on a pure pvm barb though.

I wonder, though: why don't people mention the Beast/Last Wish combo? Might+Fanat sounds good, and both of them do enough damage within themselves.

most likely because Last Wish doesn't hit the last ww frame even in PB and that the might aura it provides is inferior to what your merc has.

Besides, grief beats two of them at once when it comes to damage.

Thanks for the answers, 2x grief sounds good. Now, should I use double angel rings, or replace one with rare dual leech ring? I have one self crafted very good dual leech ring (10% ll/5% ml/15+str/15+life/some light resist) that may be a good start.

suppose u r

using Fortitude 300%ed
300 str 300%ed
lvl 25 mastery 220%ed
lvl 25 Whirlwind 142%ed
Pride on ur merc lvl 20 Concentration 345%ed

if u r using Beast + Last Wish

Beast ba 92-273 183avg
Last Wish ba 117-347 232avg
lvl 9 fana 186%ed
lvl 17 might 200%ed

ur damage would be
Beast 183*(300+300+220+142+345+186+200+100)/100=183*17.93=3281
Last Wish 232*17.93=4160

if u r using Grief
Grief pb 435-440 437avg
might merc lvl 17 might 200%ed

ur damage would be
437*(300+300+220+142+345+200+100)/100=437*16.07=7022

we havent consider the case of Grief has 20% deadly strike, and last wish's speed is pretty low.

dual leech ring may be better. grief has properties of ITD and -25% Target Defense. if u feel the ar is still not enough, how about using Demon Limb?

Demon limb is a mace with low dam

Btw, how about Botd as second weapon? it has ~100 average damage less then grief and loses the 20% deadly strike but has other goodies like +30 attr and double leech which would enable me to wear raven = free slot in arreats rather than cham in it :grin:

250 AR from raven is also hot, I tested it and it somehow felt faster than double grief plus my barb reached 7100+ hp ^.^

yes, that is the gear. u can put it in stash and use the Level 23 Enchant on it before combat. it will give u 200% AR and last for 10 min.
yeah, Botd is competitive i think. u can try it.

Use highlords, 1 raven and that nice dual leech ring of yours. Angelics is totally overkill. I recommend draculs gloves as well for another 10% life leech (and kickass lifetap if you've got a point in frenzy).

Regarding AR, without ITD the difference between 8000 AR and 11000 AR is not neglicible (~75% hit VS ~80% hit against equal level 2700def monsters). Call me extreme but I'd use angelic ring+ammy combo (~1k AR before modifiers at high clvls) unless you really have a LOT of AR from other gear.

are you sure? With grief, pride gives a huge boost, besides, everything is dead in one hit anyway. Except bosses maybe. But since draculs don't work, it may be worth a try.

Without angelic, I have ~6k AR, definitively not enough to feel comfortable imho )

The demon limb bonus is excellent against all kinds of ubers indeed.

if u could kill monster by one hit, then pride is better.
if u play 8pp game or run ulbers a lot, The Reapers Toll will be better. cause the curse of decrepify would reduce the physical resistence by 50%.
