pvm bone necro

Ive decided to build a bone necro as its a build ive never really tried before, i have 2 successful summoners on the go atm, one twinked the other untwinked, and was wondering what the accepted skill progression is for pvm(bearing in mind i will be working my way through the game normally). Do i pump teeth at the beginning, or save for bone wall and bone spear? I am going to be meleeing it up at the beginning with khalims will so bone skills will probs not be used much till halfway through act 2. Thoughts?

Pump teeth until you can get bone spear then pump that.
One tip I can give you is try to get bone prison if you're having trouble with duriel. Bone prison saves you from tele from town to duriel over and over and it makes duriel as easy as stealing candy from a baby:grin:.

i max teeth until bone spear, then max bone spirit, one into bw and bp, finish teeth, then bone wall max and finish off the synergies with bone prison last. the only real problem with this build is its rather gear-dependent (even for PvM, dont even bother with PvP unless you have solid items), so if you are used to summoners this is going to be very different.

yeah items shouldnt be a problem i have a fairly solid stockpile of equipment for early mid and late game so no worries

Not too gear dependent imo, as long as you can afford to keep an act 2 merc alive and equipped with a decent insight you should be fine. I way prefer prison to wall and max bone spear first then spirit then prison then wall then teeth, as bone spear is the main pvm attack and prison/wall boost bone armour. A point in decrep, clay golem, golem mastery with some of the points saved up waiting to get to spear.

A bone nec isn't gear depending at all, I mean if you would look at my bonenec's gear then you will see it sucks. Get some res and you'll do fine, just learn to use bone wall and prison.

bone necros require a lot more than resist. to get anything near acceptable damage you need to at least hit the 75 breakpoint for fcr while keeping respectable damage. im finding my necro is servicable with this gear.

um'd shako
hoto
pdiamond homunculous
mp enigma
crafted ammy with 10 fcr, 14 resistances, and 2 pnb skills
two rings with fcr and strength
crafted belt with 10 fcr
63 life waterwalks
trang gloves
3 pnb skillers

i find that with this gear, not only can i hit the 125 breakpoint (spirit shield instead of homunculous), but i do enough damage to back it up. anything less than mid 3000s in damage is going to go painfully slow later in hell.

good untwinked bone necro gear is easy to find/make,

stealth rw (tal+eth) these can be found from norm countess. and 2os armors bought from charsi 25fcr 25 rw 30 pres
spirit sword bt the end of norm, id use my socket quest on a broad sword that falls in a5 - 25 fcr at least
lore helm
splendor shield 20fcr
10 fcr ring
thats 75 fcr there

1 pt dim vision the rest in pnb tree, the walls and prisons are your summons. you will be relying on CE quite a bit

The breakpoint of 75 fcr isn't that crucial. Without it you can get through hell easy if you place your bone walls and prisons well. Personally I would say getting breakpoints is more for a pvp bonenec and not for a pvm. It might be usefull but it is not needed to survive in hell.
The only anoying part in hell is areas with thos gloam or whatever they are called. I always get killed when I see them the first time because the fire atleast like 10 lightning attacks which hurt alot.

Lower that mid 3000's slows you down?? I can't agree with you, I hit below 2k with my bone spear (not sure haven't played on my nec for a while) and it doesn't bother me at all. I still kill fast, just line them up and let them hit your merc or golem and just spam spears works well for me.

well that might be fine for one player, but if you plan on effectively mfing or playing in a game with more than yourself, 1k bonespear isnt even going to scratch anything above a fallen.

Well I do play single only and there I do damage the monsters quit good. Looked at my spear damage its around 1200-1350. On 1 players it is enough. Besides with this kind of low damage you can still get into hell easy and if you trap hell monsters and just use mana potions and get 2 or 3 baddys down and CE works well enough, atleast for me.
But you got a point when you're gonna play with more than 2 players.
