Put points in defiance or vigor for smiter/charger?

I'm going to be making a smiter/charger, with more emphasis on smite than charge. Charge will be the first-hit skill, and will be used against ranged. This will be strictly pvp against all classes.

Items will be:
Beast Zerker
Enigma
Upped Herald
Shako
Maras/+3 combat 85 life ammy
crafted crushing ias gloves/bfists
raven + BK
dungos
Treks

My skills will be:

20 smite
20 Charge
20 HS
20 Conc
1 in prereqs + 1 in sac and zeal for when I need it

Now, my question is:

With my remaining ~18 points or so (going to around lvl 90), should I:

a) Put 1 in defensive tree prereqs, plus 1 in meditation, and put 14 in vigor for an increase in charge dmg?

or

b) Put 1 in prereqs, 1 in vigor, 1 in meditation, and put 14 in defiance for a holy shield defense increase?

I'm kinda torn between the 2 because more charge dmg will help against ranged chars like zons, but probably won't hit a lot against melee/max block shield users on the first hit so the defense from putting more in defiance might be better overall in the long run.

Just wanted to get some opinions on this besides my own. Thanks.

Both seem like good ideas to me, but you seem to be using charge as merely the initial hit, for the beginning stun to begin your smite work. If this is the case, you may want to throw them in defiance rather than a synergy to make the hit a little bigger (if you hit) with charge.

I guess personally, without having a lot of experience in this field, I'd throw them in defiance, because you'll need all the defense you can get in PvP to prevent taking hits when smite isn't doing its job properly. :thumbsup:

By the way, the most PDR I see you getting is 33%, with a perfect verdungos. Shouldn't you have a little more for PvP? May want to Ber the Shako if you could to at least pass 40%... other than that, your gear looks okay, but I don't often see beast users on smite with conc as a main aura, using the level 9 fanaticism that beast offers. Seems interesting,

I prefer vigor, cuz Smite/Charge is not for "defensive style" player.

and from that mid-level-defense gear, your defense boost is not
comparable to opponent's attack rating. :scared:

Doesn't smite have ITD? And vigor wouldn't boost the AR, it would only boost the damage of charge. I figure 1 point in vigor is plenty to simply utalize it when needed. Since you have charge maxed, you already have the AR enhancement maxed on charge as well...

If you really want huge charge damage (even though you said smite is your main attack) fine, max vigor. If you plan to use hammers, which I don't really see as useful for this build since you don't really have a lot of points to spare into BH, also go for vigor. If you really plan to use smite more, and not charge so much... I'd say go for defiance.

Will have around 3k dam if he puts the points in vigor with hammers at base. That's 500 dam per hammer after pvp penalty. Not too bad. Defiance is not needed for a vindicator anyway. Too many casters in this patch...
