Pure rabies for pvp?

I keep hearing about this and that about Rabies as a secondary attack, but why nothing as a primary source of damage? Granted fury is good pvm, but with a lvl 1 fury (higher with items) and public baal runs, aint it wiser to have a pure rabid character over hybrid with fury/fireclaws? I know the ring (forgot name as of post) has a bug thing with lvl 21 vine, but for rabies to be truly good wouldn't it be best for gear setup for PURE rabies?

Skill Points:
20 Werewolf
20 Lync.
1 Werebear
1 Feral Rage
1 Maul
20 Rabies
1 Hunger <-uninterruptable, for blocklocking?
1 Fury
-----
20 Poisen Creeper
5 Raven <-just incase lack of +gear
1 Carrion Vine
1 Solar Creeper

The extra ring could be used for +1 skills, higher resists, awsome AR, basically to boost whatever is lacking. I might be overlooking the obvious, dunno.

cause you only need 20 skillpoints to go pure rabies cause of the lvl 21 synergize bug from carrion wind, thats why there almost exist nothing as pure rabies in my opinion

If going pure rabies for pvp U could put rest of skill points
in bear.. he is good to finish last hp from Ur oponent.

and why not pure rabies but in my opinion hybreads are more efective

anyway get fast weapon 6shaeld pb or 4shaels 2ar/ias jewels
and as much OW it can get and on swich death web and facet sheild

hit with pb then run and swich to web/f. sheild and cast bear to finish
the job.

I thought that if you infect someone with rabies, it will kill them if their life gets to 1, unlike all other sources of poison in D2, right? So you wouldnt need anything to "finish them off"

yes pure rabies is devestating in pvp, and yes rabies WILL kill your opponents.

onto skills, i used the carrion bug untill i had enough points to fill it totally (20 extra) in the mean time working up oak sage, so i ended up with

20 wolf
20 lyc
20 rabies
10+ oak
5 raven
20 creeper

now equipment:
greif phase // cta for prebuffing (BC->Raven->Oak->BO->wolf)
ss // spirit for prebuffing
bramble
trangs gloves
verdungoes
full angelics
+4/+120% cerebus' bite
sandstorm treks
10 shape shifter gc's (nice an cheap nowadays)
anni
9 small ar charms with +dex if possible (need a small amount of fhr to hit 86%)

stats:
str = enough (with anni it was 130)
dex = 200+ (for max block)
vit = rest
nrg = none

damage readout was 34k
attack rating was ~22k
defense was worthless :p
max pdr / block / fhr
~5k life
ravens OWN hostile's durability

note: you wont have an insane attack speed, but your rabies is pretty much gaurenteed to hit with that 22k ar (at -12.5% of their defense to boot), then fury to keep em still. It works... very very well. Only real downside is the resistances, but you're not gonna figh a dumb sorc/trapper now are you :p

thc-shadow, which realm do you play in? I am asking 'cause my rabies werewolf is just not competitive enough in my opinion. Just a thought, what is your base stats? Please understand, I never saw a rabid werewolf on b.net besides myself, and this is the first char i am making that goes in melee. (I usually play necromancers, but besides summoning, no fun now 'cause of nigma).

The stats off my head for my wolf:
AR: usually just under 10K (1K? all i remember it was low), but some gear gets it abit above.
Life: 2000-2300
Defence: I can't get myself to care about it.
Damage: 33K-ish for melee, silence ghost spear (relic from .09 LEGIT spear barb) 25K-ish

Newb questions on equipment:
what are verdungoes, and sandstorm treks? Sand sounds like boots, but I never heard of them before. And just a thought, why fury? isn't the fastest it goes 5/4/4/4/4? Rabies/hunger goes 4 frames.

@uglybeast

10k ar seems really low, are you wearing angelic rings and amulet? and sadly my critter is no longer around, i ended up trading all of his gear off and deleting him, so im unsure of his stat, i know i had 130ish str and 190ish dex, rest in vita.

keep in mind that my cta on swith added QUITE a bit of life, + my oak sage too.

as for the sandstorm treks, they add 20% faster hit recovery and strength
the verdungeos gets me another 10%fhr, putting me at 80% with bramble... since the breakpoint is 86% its really easy to attian. (shael the cerebus for instance).. that brings up another thing, a high % cerebus adds alot of ar... i mean alot.

additionaly my verdungoes had 15%pdr, when combined with ss i hit the max of 50%, not to mention the awesome vita boost.

about fury, i didnt know about the frame issues when compared to hunger, honestly i didnt even consider hunger, i though it to be pretty usless what with no leeching in pvp and all...

so yeah i am probably gonna remake him, this timme with carrion unfortunately (id rather max oak sage this time) and if i decide to take him to 95 then ill add skills to creeper

#1 silence ghost spear is slow. scrap it.
#2 vita boost on dungoes only adds 80 life (if perfect) lycanthropy/oak does not multiply + vit , life per clvl items
your skills into creeper will make the lvl 21 synergy on carrionwind completely useless (not to mention a lower dmage rabies)

looking at your gear, how do you catch up to teleporting enemies? You hardly have any r/w only 20% i believe form the treks. Imo goign low str with enigma for the nice 45% rw is much more effective than the bramble. You're gonna need to get some fhr elsewhere, but way more life, and much much faster speed

well for starters i dont duel sorcs/casters with melee charas in general, with ww azn's yeah sure ill duel them but not with pure melee.. and for speed, a lvl 1 base feral is plenty to keep up with just about any melee chara.

also i did a sp test and my ar was 32k with 2xangelic rings and ammy
with carrien it was 25k so i had it mixed up..

that doesnt explain your 10k, maybe thats base?

Keep in mind I don't really like to trade much, and thus my gear selection is low. The silence spear has done me wonders against sorcs with the range+resists. And the carrionwind bug, I don't like to rely on bugs.

I dont have angelic (yet), i dont have cta, and i don't have too much fancy fluff. When dueling i tend to use w/r gear such as an enigma from a friend who quit (a breastplate) for speed vs. most casters (I.E. I noticed hammeradins have a weakness, the hammers don't touch in melee, individually usually either south or east of them, so i run, bite, try to dodge hammers, and pray, its been working)

"also i did a sp test" thc, is there a download where i could get ahandful of items at lvl 90ish? Or just too much time on your hands? (which is good)
