pure orb vs mep viable?

so, im planning on pure orb ES sorc to run andy, tunnels, mep, council, pindle, whatever. i know that orb has the raw power, but what i need help with is with the tactic to kill mep. the moat trick doesnt work too good like with bliz cause if i stay a safe distance away, the orb blows off too early. if i get to good distance mep gets shots in on me. teleing around and orbing in between works but is RISKY (this is HAAAARDCOOOORE btw). i know one spot where u can lock mep, you know those 2 chests that are always on the same place in durance lvl 3 near mep? if u got south west of the chest on the right side, u can lock mep to the corner between the 2 stairs. hard to explain and im at work so i cant post a screeny. but thats hard and during the lockdown process mep gets shots in.

its gonna be a complete vita / ES sorc, pure orb with gear like ocu, shako, skullder, spirit shield, wt, chancies, goldwrap, rare ammy, fcr/mf rings. so my resistances will SUCK in hell. thats why i wouldnt wanna take too many hits.

Pure orb will work good against meph and andy, but sometimes pindle will be cold immune. So a good merc is good vs pindle

Anyway, about the tactics as a pure orb sorc vs meph. Just orb him once (doesn't have to be a good hit, just make sure he get frozen). Then you static him to half health, and step away a few steps. Let your merc tank him so meph will stand still. That way it'll be easier to make the orb "explode" on meph. If you dont have a merc, just spam orbs and dodge his attacks.

I dont think orb will be as effective as blizzard since orb spreads out, which is more suited for a crowd control. Since the main dmg is where the orb explodes? Not too sure. Though a blizzard is a more concentrated form of attack but orb can work I guess.

ive done bliz sorcs, havent done more than 1 orber so i wanna try

what can I add to this... Orb is the safest (especially with that new Insight rw on your merc ^^ ), allthough you have to watch out when fighting mephi, Orb is also the funnest IMHO, and Blizz would be the most destructive

i think its quite viable. I myself have one with
20 CM 20 FO 20 Icebolt 20 Blizz and meffi goes down real fast like 3-4-5 orbs with 11+skills and full static and very nice merc :xsmile4: I really suggest a merc to hold of meffie it works fantastic just dont lure out the nasty monsters that are in back of the room( cant remember name but they are cold immune so that sux :xmad: ) so lure him a bit to the front of the chamber and FO him once then static and all and then FO explode on him really works nice dmg i would say :xsmile4: well gl i didnt die a lot with this like not once in 400 runs i have done util now :xsmile4: gl

I have ran meph with my old orber tons of times... and it is very viable.. just try to get a nice merc to keep him in one place as it was stated and he is a piece of cake!

When using Frozen Orb on Meph, it is important that you aim right at him and also from the right distance, so that he will be hit full-on by the Frozen Orb Ball, from which the shards spiral out. This way you will notice that you do considerably more damage, then just aiming in his direction.

Frozen Orb is a very good different option other than Blizzard for killing Mephisto fast and easy.
