Pure MF soso?

Ok I have been reading loads of stickys and to be honest my brain is in over load.

So far I have seen the below which did interest me some what
http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=562
It says its not bad for soloing in hell. I want to be able to solo and will basicaly MF. I also hear that Meteorb builds are decent, but then some people seem to say meteor is a bit naff and is only used on a few mobs.

I have read this http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=683498 but still not 100% any one give any feed back or expirience please :)

Out of that I do like the sound of Matriarch BBIV - FO/Nova I must admit

Re: Pure MF soso?

Thanks for the plug, but for pure MF, a pure Blizzardsorc is very, very hard to beat. It can spank Meph, Ancient Tunnels, and Pindleskin, and between those three targets you can find every item in the game (except for a few things like Anni, Torch, Keys and Cow's set :p - although you'll do well against Cows too, if you want to run them). The build is not particularly item-dependent either.

Of course, soloing different areas with a blizzy is a little painful (teleport, ftw), so if you want more than the monotony of repeatedly running those 3 areas, Blizzy's might not be the best choice.

Also FYI, BBIV is focused entirely on playing solo. Nova has a hard time scaling to games with more players... I should have mentioned that in that thread, but if you're looking at joining games with more than 2-3 other people, you might find that Nova slows down a little too much, and the Fireball variant could be a better fit.

FYI, with access to an Infinity polearm, a pure Lightning sorc is one of the best MF'ers, and able to go just about anywhere. Of course, Infinities aren't exactly cheap, so this option might not be in your "price range".

Thanks for a quick reply mate, I do have a hammerdin who seems capable of killing a lot (only tried in NM though lol) so I will have the best of both worlds I guess!

Mmmm hard toss up then. I like the sound of the blizzardsorc but like I said I play solo a lot at the moment, could be because I dont know many people yet, but after being screwed over by people in the past with items, I just prefer it if I solo. So the BBIV might be a good choice for me to go.

Gah this has made my choice hard. Would BBIV be able to do the places you mentioned that a Blizzardsorc would easily do?

Thanks mate

Re: Pure MF soso?

Yeah, she'd definitely work.

With the high-end equipment I have, her speed would be moderately close to a Blizzard sorc, but as the gear "degrades" the difference in speed would be more and more noticeable. Blizzsorcs are very item-independent, but FO & Nova... not as much.

Re: Pure MF soso?

Mmmmm, out of the two, what would you say could kill more? Like you said the blizsoso can only realy do them 3 bosses, could the other do the others? Or like you said do you only really need to do them 3 bosses lol. Whats WSK as well I keep hearing this mentioned.
Thanks again mate

These are the runs I do with my blizz sorc: Andy, Mephy, Pindle, Summoner, Cows and Ancient Tunnels.

Runs I do once I have the right gear and a good merc: Countess, Nihlathak, Travincal and the Pits. They can also run Baal though I find it way too much of a pain to do with a blizz sorc.

Re: Pure MF soso?

WSK = World Stone Keep (levels 2 & 3 usually - a lot of people don't run level1).

This is the last area before facing Baal and his minions, and it's a level85 area (the highest possible area level, I believe I'm not sure what the ubers area levels are :p).

WSK also has several tough(er) monster types, so it's a nice challenge if that's what you're seeking. As a level85 area, it can drop (almost) anything, and having Baal at the end is icing on the cake, so to speak.

As Road Ratt mentioned, a Blizzsorc can run several additional "good" targets. She'll really excel against the three I mentioned, but she's not entirely limited to those three. The FO/Nova sorc can go anywhere and be pretty efficient doing it.

Against act bosses and single monster(types) (Mephisto, Andy, Cows), FO/Nova won't keep up to the blizzsorc, but doing area-runs (Countess, Pits, Summoner), FO/Nova will be very close, or maybe even better at times.
