Pure blizz sorc able to constantly run nm/hell meph?

I'm looking for a build for sorcs that is exclusive for taking down nm/hell meph as I need to build my inventory for future characters. Is it true that they are the best? I've looked around but don't see any direct guides on what skill levels to put in.

i am making a blizz/dream zeal hybrid and it does a nice job on hell meph. with my +skill gears and etc i get 3.6-3.8 dmg for blizz and 140% for cold mastery. what i do is, in durance 3, tp along side and get to meph and make him follow me and tp to left side of moat and do the moat trick. every now and then the single counsel member on left side may see you but it can easily be killed.

on my build, i maxed out blizz, glac spike, 7 ice blast, 10 icebolt, 15 cold mastery (all base). but since your making a pure blizz, youll have more skills to put into your synergies and etc. also pindle skin is a pretty nice fella to kill. just spam glac spike towards him so it freezes the zombies around em and use blizz, then spam glac spike when blizz is delayed. watch out when pindleskin is cold immune though.

Pure Mephisto Killing

You'll want to max these two skills first:
Blizzard - No surprise, it's your main spell.
Ice Blast - You fire these in between Blizzard casts, they offer more damage than G.Spike.
After those, you'll want to pump up Cold Mastery depending on the number of +skills you have. The target area for Mephisto is around level 32 Cold Mastery. This ensures his resists are bottomed out and your main spells are doing as much unresisted damage as possible.

After that, it's up to you.
Here's some possibilities I would think about.
Max Glacial Spike - More damage: Faster killing.
ES/Telek - Safety against hard hitting monsters, Insight dependent.
10-15 in Teleport for Insight independence/not having to moat trick.

Of course, that's the easy part. I won't even start into gear suggestions, but if you know your common breakpoints and such it's not terribly hard to figure out.

One more thing, which merc to get? I was told to get an A2 one from normal until you hit nightmare. Offensive defensive or what?

well i prefer a act 2 defensive from nightmare for holy freeze which freezes monsters, even immunes.

Blizz can kill meph ez. you can always do the moat trick or just blizzard and tele around

My gear is much better than yours but I can kill Meph in about 5 seconds with my merc tanking.

He uses Reapers Toll, Andy Visage, and a SS. If you can get to that level, runs are much more fun.

Well I'm level 49 now, got blizz maxed out, 1 in warmth, 1 telekenesis 1 teleport, 1 in static field, 1 in ice bolt, maxed blizz and maxed ice blast, and I think 2-3 in cold mastery. I will probably go pure and max ice bolt and put a few into cold mastery as well.

I tried doing a few meph runs, got a tarnhelm so far and a few other bits here and there. But I think I really need to get him a few more NM baal runs to get him into the 60s, it'll be much easier to run then.

I currently have to chug mana pots like there is no tomorrow. My health pool is around 550 and mana around 155, and blizz is like 36 mana, it's insane!

What gear should I look for to ease all this? And also what merc should I take?

basically any merc with insight runeword will help with the mana problems. I prefer a prayer merc, but I think most people opt for holy freeze.

I use defiance and eth reapers since a slowed Mephisto can't break a tank :) I hear Prayer is AWESOME however.

You really need more levels, 155 mana is nothing! I suggest you get to level 80 or so, which isn't hard, and then start smacking NM down until you get yourself a Vipermagi or something.

It'll get easier from there, my sorc finished maxxing blizz at level 84 with 32 CM too, but thats after intensively mfing some very hard earned items!

So just give me a break down of what the mercs do. Cause there's offensive defensive and combat.

Which ones have which auras?

Well I MF ran earlier on NM meph. Got some decent stuff! I now have for him a 208% shaftstop and a soulfeast tine for leech. However I still need to get him a helm.

I'm just curious though, where should I take him to level? I tried baal runs but it just doesn't work out very well for him as far as getting lots of XP goes. Should I just solo some NM stuff to get him up? I'm at 62 now and he's at 52. Oh I took a holy freeze merc btw.

Take his items off, buy a new one closer to your level.

Don't waste time leveling a mercenary unless you're really stuck on him.

How would an Act 5 merc using a Lawbringer Phase Blade compare to an Act 2 merc using Reaper's Toll? Thinking about going the A5 merc route on my new Blizz sorc since I already have the Lawbringer...
