PreBuffing Traps?

PreBuffing Traps?

I've never really played a trapsin before and I couldn't find this answer in the FAQ.

Question is that if I Lay down my traps with +5 skills (hoto/spirit) then switch to mf gear while they kill, will the traps retain that +5?

Thanks.

Yes. Traps are considered minions - once they're set, they'll only use the stats they were dropped with. Also, though I doubt this is necessary to mention, +light damage/-light resist doesn't help traps, although I believe it still says that it does on the LCS. This is for the same reason; Basically, if doing X won't help an A3 lightning merc (switching to different gear, or +/- light damage/resists), it won't help traps.

So if you lay traps, then when the boss gets low, switch to MF gear, the traps already out will not benefit from the mF?

They will. MF isn't set on trap creation- rather, it's checked at the time of the kill. You could cast traps with two +3 Trap Claws and then switch to MF gear and your Traps would remain at the prebuffed level, but benefit from the extra MF.

That's the exact answer I was hoping for.

Thanks
