Pot to be sold in pharmacies.

I think this is a good thing. Personally, I hope that Canada becomes more and more like The Netherlands. Not because I intend to ever smoke it, since it would be against military law, but rather just because I'm a socialist pseudo-liberal commie Canadian.

Sounds like a good thing to me as well.

Victimless freedom is something I approve of. Most of the time, anyways.

Aha, I always knew there was something wrong with you, now I know.

I'm kind of for the easier access. In my opinion it would secure the use of marijuana(a bad thing), but it would also make it safer. Some people who lack the right kind of symptoms would also benefit by getting relievement for undiagnosed pain.

There are many things wrong with me and they don't stop there. :teeth:

But just out of curiosity, why do you think the securement of marijuana is a bad thing? It can help some people and is otherwise harmless. The government is growing and selling, so there's less health concerns and the money isn't going towards criminals (well... non-government criminals, anyways  ). I don't see too many downsides.

Gotta get approval by a doctor and show that your suffering can be lessened by the use of MM.

Would you see the widespread, excess use of painkillers good? I have friends who take 3-5 painkillers a day if they have a headache. This is only a normal headache coming from cramped neck/shoulder muscles(sp) and they take several painkillers which work with the consept of entire body medication(if this is unclear I can try to elaborate). I would say they are painkiller abusers. Now give them marijuana and they are most certainly hooked for life. I am not saying that marijuana is bad. I'm saying that since I've heard of it's use as a painkiller in serious pain which cannot be mended, and since some people have different views of pain, there would be abuse of medical marijuana. The fact that it gives different point of view on some things and can give a feeling of pleasure doesn't excactly discourage its abuse. Not that there is not already marijuana misuse...

    edit:
*reminds himself of the time when cocaine was used as a painkiller and an ingredient in Coca-cola*
Those must have been sweet times.

Interesting that you put it that way forcefeedback.

The casual use of marijuana has a natural usage dropoff at around the age of 25 for most people.

However, sell it as a "painkiller", and you give people a reason to blaze a doobie, thus extending their mental addiction. Physical addiction would still be nonexistant, but the mental motivation will be greater when it becomes a reaction to pain.

That's true. As drugs go, pot has almost no chance of physical addiction. There's no withdrawal from stopping to smoke up. The addiction is all psychological. I still don't think that the addiction to pot is a dangerous one, though. If it doesn't get so bad that it interferes with one's needs to live, then I don't see too much of a problem. After all, anything can become psychologically addicting enough to interfere with one' life. Alcohol can, sex can, and computer games can. We don't ban those on the chance that one might become addicted to them because there are different degrees of addiction and not every addiction is inherently damaging.

Yes after reading it a second time with thought, I see that I'm giving a rather differing views than my opinion would require. I guess I like debating with myself.

I don't know what the bold part means but I would guess that it you mean "gives a reason for people to still use marijuana". Yes this is the bad thing I tried to mention in my first post to this thread.

If they find out how to put THC into capsules, I think they are going to run the regular painkillers from business.

Yes I agree the addiction is psychological, but you have to take into account that marijuana can(if used regularly for a time) affect your psyche and that's what I'm afraid some people would be up against if they would have to use medical marijuana for a extended time. They would have to(in their still recovering state) fight the addiction where the world doesn't seem so bad and where you can shrug off the worlds worries.
Would you say having sex makes you think of the world in a different perspective? Or better yeat, computer games.

This is how I see it.

One dose of marijuana might make you think differently about many things.

One hour of playing *crowbar swings* makes you think differently of *crowbar swings*

But it doesn't cause the health problems that, say, alcohol or harder drugs do. If they spend all their lives smoking up and living in a haze and potentially lowering their IQ points a few notches, then that's their choice and their life. I don't think legalization will encourage people who aren't already doing that to start. I've never seen anyone commit a crime to pay for pot addictions nor be put out on the street for it. Not so for things like heroin and alcohol.

And playing too much video games can certainly change your perception of things. I'm not talking about making you more violent. That's bullcrap (although if I ever hear one more 15 year old swear that he'd make a great special forces operator because he kicks *** at counterstrike, I'm gonna lose it). I mean that if you spend all your time playing video games you get an extremely warped sense of social interaction. It also leads to things like depression, obesity and mental instability (think that guy who relocated his cerebellum several feet across the room because his Evercrack account got stolen).

I dunno about having too much sex, though. I'll experiment and let you know. But there are definently documented cases of sex addicts and they do say it affects the way they live negatively.

Yes, like I already said I'm not saying marijuana is bad, just that it is addicting, because it's alters you're perception of things(I've seen people who claim they have to do certain thing and they can't help it and people who claim they are unable to do something, all psychological, both under the influence of THC)

Yes games also change our perception of the world, but I would think this is only cultural acceptance issue(nerd), not something internal.

Come to think of it, I think we should revert to communism and choose what we teach to our children. Education strongly affects our perception of things and giving and choosing which parts of the history we teach to our kids could enhance their patriotism(sp) and selfesteem(sp).

    You do that. :D

Yes we had a trilogy of them(sex addicts) in our movie theaters here and with that amount of "relationships", I'm not surprised. (there has been serious discussion about the theme of the movie trigology, that's where this information is coming from)

*awaits eagerly for Anakha's experiment results, expecting (black/dropped off) private parts*

Granted. As long as we agree that it's psychologically addictive but not necessarily harmful.

I'd say it does have some part in maladaptive social behaviour. If you spend long enough away from social situations, eventually you forget how to behave. Social behaviour is learned, and there's a lot of varying niceities that change very frequently. Think about all the computer obsessed "nerds" who have no idea how to talk to girls without coming off as goobers. It's definently cultural, but it's still an adaptive and necessary trait as part of the human social structure.

I'm not sure that altering the truth about the past is the right way to go about teaching our kids. Historical revisionism is never a good thing, IMO.

I'll get right on it. :surprise: Now where'd Zeppy go... :wink2:

My Frank n' Beans are made of steel... no way they'll fall off. And if they do, I'll post pictures on the Pal forum. :cheesy:

So you force these innocent creators of the future into the dangerous world to fend for themselves? It's the same as eating brocholi(sp) (now don't go lol there I'm sure I'm making a valid point) the only thing you learn by eating brocholi is eating brocholi, it is for the parent to decide if you want to force them into it or see if they learn to do it themselves. Some need the help/encouraging, some don't.

Gee I've always thought brainwashing was the best way to raise your kids to be self-sufficient. And you must be totally serious with that answer also.

This is a capitalist comment made only for the benefit of RGP Forums and *crowbar swings*.net.

*ties Anakha to a chair in a dark room and shines a bright light into his eyes*
Now, who is your contact and how much are they paying you?

Just too add something to this.

I know a few people who smoked alot of pot. And you cant tell if their high or not. They learned too act "normal" when their high.

    So i dont agree with:

If your normal is high, then you become unnormal when not high, and people then thinks your high! :surprise: :teeth:
