Post your exotic NON cookie cutter SORCY builds here!

I am interested to read some of the non tradional sorcy biulds......all I see on b-net these days is the FO/Meteor, FO/FB, or CB sorcys......

what are some other biulds that you have tried?

    *** I am currently working on a Hydra/Blizzard biuld

speaking of Blizzard, should I put points into cold mastery? if so, how many points? I realize that it does not cut down a monsters cold resistence, so if this is true, then what exactly does it do?

You should put points into Cold Mastery, it helps alot. I think 1 point is enough, though you can opt to put more. It cuts resistance of any monster except immunes, and that essentially helps your damage a lot.

Right now, I'm working on a Fire Wall/Nova build. Fire Wall is a good skill that works efficiently while not having to spend a bunch of points. And Nova is still being decided on, as I may want to go with Thunder Storm, which, although it isn't an attack, per se, it does great damage over time. The main issue is that its over time...

I agree about cold mastery. I am going to put 1 point into it & let my items with + skills pump it up......right now I get + 5 to all skills from my gear at lvl 36.....but Chromatic Ire gives me 1 extra in cold mastery, so it will be @ 7.

    I currently use:

    tarnhelm
    Vipi
    Chromatic Ire staff
frostburns ( 35% chanies too sometimes)
    gloom belt
    silky boots
    eye ammy
    angelic ring
    manald ring

They're kinda cookie cutter, but not so popular... I have:

    Blizz/Fwall
Archmage FW/FO/CL (on hold until I complete Tal set)
    Enchantress with Kingslayer Champion Axe

Currently contemplating a Lit/Fire Hybrid making use of Moonfall.

You'd always want Cold Mastery to give -100% before boosting synergies...

    My favorite non-cookies:
    Blizzard/Charged Bolt
    Dream/Kingslayer Enchantress
Immortal Sorc - ES + loads of reduce damage gear.

My mf sorc is an orb/es one so she doesn't count as an exotic build. But I have done some other sorcs not so long ago that maybe counts as exotic non cookie cutter sorcs.

    1. The first one was a cb/es pvp sorc. It was quite fun to duel with her even if she didn't have the best gear. Her bolts only did like around 1000 dmg/bolt.

    2. My nova/es countess runner some time ago. She could run the countess quite fast.

    3. The next one should have been a hydra pvp sorc but I didn't finish her. I only got her to lev 60 or so.

    4. My last one was maybe the most fun one besides the cb/es pvp one. She was a blaze/orb one. It was really fun to do baal runs with her. Before Baal's minions came out she would run around like a maniac with her blaze then just stand next to them casting her orbs and watch them die. Of course with the help of all the others in the party. But I think I killed a lot of the minions with my blaze. The cookie cutter blessed hammer pallys of course killed more minions than me.

I can't remember any other exotic sorc builds that I have done.

One sorc that I always would like to make is an ik sorc. I don't know if she would be any good at all in hell. Maybe she will be my next project.

If you put about 7 points into cold mastery you should be able (with plus skills) to get it up to level 17 which will give you -100 to all monoster cold resistances.

I have posted an unusual build. My enchantress is a DTM enchantress. she's in hell diff and is quite fun to play. I love to watch her mana ball empty and fill rapidly out of the corner of my eye.

I also have a 200 FCR Charge bolt orber.

    20 CB
    20 Lightening
    20 Lit mastery
    20 F Orb
    7 Cold mastery

I am also working on a FW/CL Tanking sorc.

Act 2 Holy freeze merc is required for this build.

    20 Lightening
    20 Chain Lightening
    20 Lit mastery
    20 Firewall
    7+ Fire Mastery

Builds that are clearly more advantageous and more versatile in D2, such as Hammerdins. Clearly they own in PvM and most likely dominate vs. classical melee dulers such as WW / Zeal. For sorc, it will most likely be - Pure Blizz / Pure FB / FO-ES / Meteorb / and maybe Lightning since more and more people are building Lightning sorcs these days.

My dual dream bear enchantress melee sorc, even if dual dream is starting to become more popular I havn't seen any others on west. She also takes down Baal's minions and Baal faster than any other build I have (embarrased to say I have a hammerdin). Take that cookie cutters!!

Its a small form usually made of thin metal that is used to cut shapes and figures out of sugar cookies/gingerbread and other thin cookie types.

In D2 or any game involving choices of character skills and stats it's a perscribed formula for how to build a character you follow it to the letter and you look like 10,000 other people who have followed the same recipe and same form to cut themselves off.

Basically cookie cutters are for players who want to play but have no inteligent means of creating characters for themselves.

Actually, once someone stumbles upon an viable alternative to building a character and shares it with forum members via a guide, it quickly becomes another 'cookie cutter' build... Wasn't that what happened to former non-cookie-cutter Blizzard/Fireball build? :D

Once i had the same sorc. I was really meticulous about her - > her equipment was: 1. ABSOLUTELY perfect eschuta 2/20/20/30energy soceted with 5/-5 light facet.2 Shako (umed). 3.Storm (umed). Tal amu. 4 Perf upgraded umed viper and etc.

But, in outcome in hell, she was one BIG nothing. Soon i traded all her items and change her appointment in a trade mule.

There are many times in the WSK on hell diff that I wish I had a fully synergized hydra to take out the gloams before they get a chance to shoot me.
