    1. To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.

    2. No. Except during world domination. So for me, always.

    3. No. You can't get betrayed by a dead hooker, you know.

Popularity is everbody knowing your name. There are ranging degrees of popularity though. There's Crowd A where if you are in everybody knows who you are and you are in the "Good" crowd. There's Crowd B where if you're in people know who you are but really don't care. You sort of float between being super cool and being super dejected. There's Crowd C that everyone else makes fun of. People always know who you are but they more or less break you into social class A to C.

Popularity isn't important. It's important to have friends. Whether it be a lot or a few as long as they are good friends. I chose the quality of my friends but I never have to get too picky. My friends are about the best kind of people you can find.

I have found that popularity is a thing of Juniour High, and Juniour High only. For instance there was a very vidible in crowed that you could see at my Juniour High, but once you got off into High School, the "in" crowd broke off and everyone just became groups of loose cliques, and I mean loose by you could easily drift in and out of a clique.
So, in High School there's not much popularity anymore... It's just if you're popular in your clique...

    1. anakha thinks popularity is what's best in life
    2. anakha doesn't know what he thinks
    3. anakha isn't thinking

popularity to me was often associated with being in the public eye, people don't know who you are if they never see you, so it's always people making an effort to show how popular they are by running for stuff or performing in crap or tackling jerks

    not really important

quality of friends? you would have like-minded friends which might affect them in that they could be more interested in being popular than in being your friend

    1. Popularity is very much a jr high/high school issue. To kids, it means being part of the cool crowd.

    2. It is important in high school and perhaps affects later life - dorks in high school are usually dorks in 10 years. If one of my kids was unpopular, I would worry.

    3. I doubt it.

    Unlife of the party

Popularity is the necessity of receiving external validation for your ideas. You can be unpopular yet still intelligent because you don't require someone else to tell you that you're intelligent.

As such, I am a very unpopular, yet still intelligent, person.

What do you think popularity is?
    Popularity is people remembering you.

    Do you think it's important?
It can be, it really depends on what you're talking about. I myself am an artist (dj) and the more popular I am, the more I'm considered a good artist. I personally tend to have a small circle of friends, but when it comes to deejaying i want to have a large audience who recognizes my face.

Does it affect the qualities of your friends?
Definitely. It would be my perception that the more celebrity-ish you are, the more you have to dig to find real friends. Friends that can take you aside and tell you what you need to hear, as opposed to people who say things to feed ego. I don't know, since I'm not a celebrity, but I think it affects the people you meet and the amount of time you have to spend with them. If you only have 2 friends you can spend more time with them and develop relationships easier than if you have 15 friends that you wish to maintain real relationships with.

That'd be my take on your questions.
