    Poor Persons Favourite Runeword Poll

Here's the sister poll to the "Rich Gits Thread".

What's your favourite low requirements runeword and why. How far do you take a character wearing them? Are one of these cheapies end-game in your opinion?

Again, 10 is the poll limit, so I've had to remove a few popular ones. I've taken out anything which is geared towards a certain character class (Leaf, Myth and Peace) and those ago-old favourites that everyone would vote for (Insight, Spirit, Rhyme, Stealth) and Lore because well LR and +1 skills, what's not to like under level 30.

Let the poll voting resulting thread roulette begin!

Malice, the 100% OW is just really nice  This one is even nice for end-game on switch, for the OW.

Definitely Malice. I don't know if it's the best choice of base weapon, but my lazy way through Normal Act 2 is to use one of these in a flail. Manald Heal ring if I'm twinking, Prayer merc if I'm not. The merc sometimes gets one of these sticks as well, if I can't be bothered with rolling savage polearms.

The one I use most often is Lore, Lore ,Lore! I make one for almost every character (or merc), although it usually gets replaced by something better along the way. I'm a sucker for + skills.

From this list, Malice is my choice, although Strength isn't bad either.

Honor all the way. I have Honor one handed weapons, Honor two handed weapons and eth Honors for mercs. I have in total 6 Honors.

Re: Poor Persons Favourite Runeword Poll

To be honest, the only one of those I ever made was an Edge for gambling. But I've thought about them often enough, especially when starting out.

    Ones I actually like
Edge: I could see this being useful as an anti-demon/undead bow in untwinked play. Heck, maybe even in low-twinked play. And the gambling, of course.
Thunder: something I've never noticed before: according to my runeword list, it has a level requirement of 21. Which is lower than the requirement of the holy shock it so kindly provides. Note to self: remember to try this on my next paladin.
Honor: for some reason, I've always had thing for melee weapons with +skills (not +class or +tab, but good old +all skills).

Ones that could be nifty untwinked
Nadir: charges of CoS, yeah baby! Too bad it gets pwned by darksight and delirium when twinking.
Malice: I've never played a character that desperately needed the OW or -def. But I've been told it's gg *shrugs* (<--- btw, why don't we have a smily for that?)

    Ones that really stink
Pledge: maybe those barbarians are a little short on gems. But I've been trying for 2 years to come up with a reason to use this instead of a PDiamond shield. I'll let you know when I find one .
Grace: compare it to edge and weep.

Edge will get my vote (after I hit "post" on this) for being the most all-round useful of the lot. I could actually see it having a use in twinked play, even as a weapon.

As honorable mention, nadir would probably get my vote if the poll was for untwinked play only. Or if normal was actually a challenge, so that crowd control would serve a purpose at those levels. Under those circumstances, paying Nef + Tir for 9 charges of "save me!" seems almost overpowered.

Re: Poor Persons Favourite Runeword Poll

Why is "leaf" not on the poll list?? that can easily be a 1000 damage weapon without too much trouble you only need +3 firewall and +3 fire mastery with +4 all skills to get 1000 damage out of it.

and it's cheap tir and ral.

    edit: doh leaf was mentioned.

I'm having a hard time deciding between Honor, Malice and Strength...

    ...

    ...

Ok, Malice. Since it is the cheapest of the three.

I'm going to go with Steel actually - not sure why, but my Zealot before my reset loved it because of the +2 Mana after each kill - if the monster went down in on hit then it paid for the Zeal cycle itself. Plus there's open wounds, IAS and AR there as well. And it's probably the cheapest runeword out there.

Re: Poor Persons Favourite Runeword Poll

Strength got my vote, as it's the one I seem to make most commonly in untwinked play. For mercs and melee characters, the crushing blow and leech are important. I concur that Leaf is a great low-level one, particularly since you can shop Akara and Drognan for a good base item for that.

Re: Poor Persons Favourite Runeword Poll

    Steel.

That and Stealth are the 2 runewords that almost all my characters (playing untwinked) make in A2-A3 Normal. It's probably the most damaging weapon at that stage, has IAS, gg OW (I try to make it before facing Duriel) and the mana/kill. The last property makes a good switch weapon until A4-A5 to quickly switch after casting a Blizzard on a largish mob.

    Malice gets my vote

First runeword I ever made......I had to join the forums to find out how exactly Drain life worked. HAHA Love the 100% Open wounds. I often use one in a Maul for my Werebear/Summoner but lately I have been using them in polearms for Act 2 Mercs until something better comes along.

    Malice. Blood. Yum.

OW is nice to have, but CtH bonuses make it shine. Haven't used it for anything other than twinking though.

@Cupcakesnbeer: Hm. Savage polearm recipe can probably net you something nicer, but Malice sounds like a pretty good idea. o_O. Will try.

    Long term problem.

I voted Nadir. I've had characters get through hells ancients almost soley because of those charges. The minus defence and crowd control effects are just great.

    It's really weird.
Though this isn't the first time I'm re-directed to another thread.

    'nyway, back on topic.

    I went with Honor.
I rarely use low level runewords, but this one has it all for early game.
    Decent damage.
    + skills.
    Leech.
    + AR.
    and DS.

I think the hard part would be if you play non-twinked.
It's hard to find 5-os weapons early in the game.
    At least in my experience.

Holy Thunder for the fast elemental damage and -25% def. Malice is pretty amazing, though.

Write-in vote for stealth. Malice is great for bosses, though.

Zephyr in a Razor Bow, easily the best out of these choices. Great attack speed for any ranged char, and you can stuff rest of gear full of damage jewels etc. Probably Deaths combo for more IAS too. I think I've taken zons from act 2 till act 5, Normal, with said bow. The FRW is very nice too.
