Poor Man Sorc: Which element?

I just started playing on Ladder, so I have absolutely NOTHING.

So I need funding, so of course, a sorc is the way to go.

I've been told that Blizz is the best for crap gear sorcs.

But I hate blizzing (I'll probably make one if it'll end up that way)

Is meteorb viable with no gear?
Pure Orber?

How about lite? I've been told that they suck really bad with no gear, is that true?

So basically, I'm torn between Lite Sorc / Meteorb / Pure Orb / Blizz

I really want to make a Lite sorc, so is it true that that suck with no gear?

Oh, I'm only using my sorc for MFing, I'd like to be able to do Meph/Andy/Countess. Which would be my best bet?

You could probably do meph/andy/countess in Hell fine with a lite sorc and bad gear. But there's not much else you can do.

Blizzball or Meteorb work fine with little-no gear and are fine to start with, and probably preferable to a one tree sorc just so you have the versatility to do almost anything... but neither of them can do much against the Countess besides Static and hope their merc is geared well enough.

Meteorb is definitely viable with no gear. I just finished Hell at 83 with 450hp and only gear that I've found along the way (have gotten several nice pieces, though, like Oculus Orb and Moser's Shield)

I obviously don't kill as fast as a well-geared sorc, but I survive fairly well. I actually have more trouble getting to the bosses than I have killing them.

I started playing Single Player again from scratch a couple of months ago and started off with a Blizzballer. She's working just great! :thumbup:

I started this ladder with a CL/ORB sorc

It strugled a bit in the beggining, but now i have a full tals + spirit + anni + torch and it can solo any area on hell.

Meteorb or blizzards are more common and dont need much gear to kill.

I just started plsyin d2 again and started a ladder meteorb sorc and i have had no problems so far granted im only lvl 45 and havent gotten crap for gear really. but once i got orb things have become alot easier for me.

if you choose for any orb mix try to max orb first, because it just rules nightmare and normal.. IT is not even fun to play an orb sorc in normal or nightmare.

Agreed, once you get to level 30, every point should go into Frozen Orb until it's finished, then go back and finish Fireball and the rest. Reason is FO is much more useful than Fireball through normal and NM. Well aimed orbs use much less mana to clear rooms than individual Fireballs, and mana is a huge problem for most of your life until you get good gear.
