Poisonous Barb -- New Build -- throwing an idea into the Aether

Basic Premise is this: Barbs use BotD all the time anyway, so why not make the poison nova damage go way up. Two ways to do that are to use Venom Runeword weapon in the other hand and use a ring with charges of Poison Dagger on it. Then use Trang's gloves for the Poison Damage bonus.

Someone else might be able to add more to the strategy, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Level 13 Poison Nova (11 Charges)
+273 Poison Damage Over 6 seconds

Poison Dagger charges can be found on Helms(12), Daggers(12), Circlets(24), Gloves(24), Rings(24)

Venom, the assassin skill can be found on Andariel's Visage

Well having a build that revolves around BoTD, and you're two main skills use charges you have to repair, this is a highly expensive build, I would think a more interesting one would be a throw barb based off of poison.

I wasn't thinking of using the charges at all. Only the Poison Explosions from BotD. But I wanted to synergize them with the charges to greatly increase the Poison Damage.

I don't think you can make runeword throwing weapons.

i think you get venom charges on arachnid mesh, although i dont really see where venom fits into the poison nova thing.
if you want to have poison damage on your hit, just use pdsc.
the poison nova + synergies is a funky idea but if it only does as much damage as 'this_barb' says, then is it worth it?

kex, make a necro and see, poison nova has the synergies of poison dagger and poison explosion. So if you equip items with pdagger and pexplosion charges it benefit your pnova damage.
this_barb, you might want to check out other items that have poison nova triggers like carrion wind ring (it has only level 10 skill though)
if you really want to get into this whole idea, you can always use a bramble, but maybe thats pushing it :)

So wait, If I have a necro with poison nova. And I have five items with level1 poison dagger charges, do I get like five extra sinergy levels? Or only one extra level?

P.S. I thought Marrowwalk "bug" works only if you dont put points in bone prison? Isnt that case with other bonuses like those poison ones?

Hrmm I never knew those charges benefit somethings thats % chance to cast. Anyone got any proof on this? If this worth, gloves would be Trang glove for the 25% Psn dmg. :thumbsup:

Ok now this setup would have some ctc poison spells. Add on the trangs gloves for the 25% poison damage and you could switch out the armor for bramble for more poison damage. But I still have to agree the poison damage is low very low. your only talking 1000 damage every 2 seconds. Venom will not gain that much over that and lessens the duration as is.

I would still perfer the venom runeword for playing a poison dagger necro with only 20 points in poison skills. add on venom from charges and your doing huge poison damage over short timeframes with poisondagger.

@ Retro_star wear hellmouth's and a stone armor and you'll have proof enough. Punching can give you 634-734 firestorm damage with a slvl 20 firemastery sorc. If you add a club of fissures slvl 7 you can get 852-986 firestorm damage. Oh and so you know firestorm is 3 streams and deals 3x damage when all streams hit so effectively in melee it will be close to 2400 damage with the club setup. :thumbsup: I don't even want to talk about a jumping barb using earthshifter and these other 2 items for this bonus. :evil:

EXAMPLE
Take a necromancer.


Pump 20 into poison dagger and poison explosion.
Do NOT put poings into poison nova. The nova that you cast from a melee attack with a BOTD will then be synergized with the points in dagger and explosion.
