    PoisonMancer help

I recently just built a poison mancer but I still have all my skill points and stats. This is how I figure it.

    Stats:
    Strength:Enough for equipment
Dexterity:Enough for max block with homonculous
    Vitality:Everything else
    Energy:None

    Stats:
1 in each of the prerequisets
    20 poison dagger
    20 poison explosion
    20 poison nova
And the question is I don't know whether or not to max lower resist. Some people say only 1 point some say max. So which should I do. And is it capped at a certain amount like conviction?

I noticed that after 15 hard points, the improvements just stop coming.
So, I'd suggest nothing more than 15.

Look...one single point +skills gets you to a effective LR and should be close to the 58 to 60% mark...which is all you to have.

If you want to WASTE 14 extra points into...then by all means do so. People that tell you to max it especailly if your asking during a baalrun and you don't know them...of course they will tell you to max it just so you can mess up your build.

Any necro vet here on the forums will tell the same thing...1 single point is enough.

Will that be enough to break most immunities?

I finished my Venomancer about several weeks ago. Yes, that's enough to break most immunities. Especially if you get Deathweb and poison Facets. Getting max lower resist isn't really needed. Considering death web reduces about 50 poison resist (if you get a perfect) 5/5 poison facets increase poison damage by 5 and lower resist by 5%. So if you put a poison facet into each slot you can get some major lower resists. Even without all these things and if you're not satisfied with your lower resists? Get a merc with infinity. So yes, one point alone in lower resist is enough.

1 point in LR is enough if you have good equipment which includes adequate + skills. Save those remaining points for a good secondary skill to use.

Here's another voice for 1 hard pt in lower resist. It's not hard at all to get +15 to skills which obviously brings your LR to 16 or so - perfect.

    lvl-1 =31%
    lvl-2 =37%
    lvl-3 =41%
    lvl-4 =44%
    lvl-5 =47%
    lvl-6 =49%
lvl-7 =51% *here's where it really starts to slow down*
    lvl-8 =52%
    lvl-9 =54%
    lvl-10 =55%
    lvl-11 =56%
    lvl-12 =57%
    lvl-13 =58%
    lvl-14 =59%
lvl-15 =60% *this is where most try to get to*
    lvl-16 =61%
    lvl-17 =61%
    lvl-18 =61%
    lvl-19 =62%
    lvl-20 =62%
    lvl-21 =63%

I have recently made a PoisonMancer and here's how I made it.

    SKILLS:
    Poison & Bone
    Teeth - 1 (Prereq)
    Poison Dagger - 20
    Corpse Explosion - 1 (Prereq)
Poison Explosion - 20 (If you get the right gear this can do about 80K dmg)
    Poison Nova - 20

    Curses
    Amplify Damage - 1 (Prereq)
    Weaken - 1 (Prereq)
    Iron Maiden - 1 (Prereq)
    Terror - 1 (Prereq)
    Life Tap - 1 (Prereq)
    Decrepify - 1 (Prereq)
    Lower Resist - 20

    STATS:
Str - Enough to use gear
Dex - Enough to use gear
    Vit - Everything Else!!
Eng - Nothing (If you get the right gear it will give you enough mana)

    GEAR:
Wep: HOTO (you want a 33 resist or greater)
    Shield: Homonculous
    Helm: Shako
Plate: Bramble (This is a very underated item but is extremly handy. Not many are around anymore but if your lucky you can find one that gives you an 100%+ bonus to Poison Skill dmg. However if you can't find one, you can make one with a maximum Poison Skill upgrade of 50%)
    Boots: Sandstorm Treks
    Gloves: Trang-Ouls Claws
    Belt: Spiderweb Sash
    Ammy: Mara's
    Ring 1: SoJ
Ring 2: Ravensfrost (Only if your going to be using in hell alot or doing many Uber runs. If not use another SoJ)

    NOTES:
With my Necro I have a Bramble with 50% to Poison Skill dmg and it does 9.2K

Thats all from me, however if you have any questions just PM me and I'll answer them for you.

you don't need 20 into lower res....1 pt into it is plenty...after a few pts into it you get massively diminishing returns on LR....much like Summon res...etc.

bramble is great for the merc (for the thorns aura) but for PvM and PvP enigma just speeds things up so much more...plus it allows you to reorganize your army (if you have one....)...or outright bypass areas that are tedious....etc....

with 1 pt invested and +15 skill pts from gear my LR is around 60% (16 skill lvl)

invest another 19 pts and you'll still be around maybe 70% at most (if there isn't a ceiling....in anycase i felt that 19 other pts could be better spent elsewhere....)

If u dont want to put skills in the other curses which u dont really need, u can use an choppable magic wand of lower resist which often gives +4lower resist (2 to curses/2 to lr or more). The other side of this is u cant hold ur cta with u all the time, but saves a lot of skills for making an relativly strong army that fight for your excistence!

or you can max a few summons...etc...im not sure what your char is for PVP? PVM? (im guessing PVM? since you mentioned breaking immunities?)

if so you have plenty to spend on summons...be it raise skele/skele mastery and/or revives and/or mages.....

*grab clay golem/golem mastery for PvM....and fire golem/mastery for PvP

Is it normal to leave energy at base with poisonmancers? I've just started on one, and blithely put about 1/3 of my stats into it - leaving dex at base, since I figured I'd never be meleeing once I got poison nova.

Should I restart the build? :undecided:

(oh, incidentally I'm playing mostly solo, using only items that I or my friends discover. Also playing without LoD atm, though I hope to get it soon)

Yes it is normal to leave energy at base...for times when you do need mana just pop a mana potion or use the insight runeword and never run out of mana long.

Depending on if your pvm or pvp...pvm you can get by without block depending on your equipment...while pvp you will need it.

Also...if your using the complete trang's set...then there is no need for max block.

yeah you won't need energy...i just gulp mana from time to time...but with all the gear you have you should be ok...i just need mana mainly when im raising my army...(revives especially eat up lots of mana...)
