I finally got my first fleshripper the other day. It owns just about everything. It really does make mincemeat out of bosses coupled with PD. Devastating skill combining melee/Poison in once vicious attack.
This brings much warmth to good ol' nc's heart kyo :D

AgainandAgain; you dont appreciate the motives of the Necro forum... its not about doing things the easiest, its about doing them with a >Necro<. I can understand why your post was interpreted as flamebait.

Necrochild; I can understand a mild chastisement to Again&again's comments but "STFU" was definately going too far; especially to a forum newcomer who wouldnt know how seriously to take it, and constitutes flaming in response to flamebait (I dont have to tell you this is "nil point" right?).

If any of you have further problems or issues with this (necro, or again), contact me via PM, and if not:

Alrighty, I'll use the "STFU" button a little more lightly from now on

the only problem you may have after all the suggestions is that all of the ancients have that 50% poison resistance in hell.

Make sure your LR and any -res you have in gear can break that hump or the battle is going to be long and painful.

ALSO, if you LR and inflict poison damage on a monster, you CAN override your LR and it won't effect the damage dealt to the monster on the poison it's currently afflicted with. So that means:

Lower resist =>Stab => Decrep

is viable, and probably a good idea.

I would create a game called "Kill Ancients 4 Me". Seriously. I have full Trangs, +3 P&B ammy, marrowwalks and a death's web (Ebay, $4.95, Shako, trangs shield and gloves included :) ) and an Anni... and I don't know if I could handle them (haven't gotten to Act 5 yet).
You havent read a single thing he's posted have you? Nope? Didnt think so...

What I would do is run the countess a few times, get some decent runes (hopefully) and try and make a better RW for your merc or run Meph a few times and maybe get a Bonehew.

If you need to put potions on the ground and feed your Merc potions when he needs them? And do you have any skellies to also serve as tanks, if you do they will help a lot.

And good luck, may you beat the **** out of the Ancients. :thumbsup:

Well, I managed to best The Ancients! In the end, I didn't use either my merc or any summons. It was just me and gumby up there alone.

Here was the strategy I used: as soon as I touched the altar, I cast decrep on all three. Then I ran away through two of the pillars. When they came at me, I recast gumby between the two pillars to keep them occupied. Then I used lower resist with p. dagger and/or nova. Whenever they broke down gumby or wandered past him, I ran off to a new position. Rinse and repeat.

Perhaps not the most melee approach, but it got the job done. (Actually, it almost got the job done twice. I once had two Ancients down and only the leaper to go, but he got me with a one-hit kill when he had ~10% HP left. :rant: )

Many thanks to everyone for all the suggestions! :thumbsup:
