    poison dmg

I hope this is the proper forum to ask this question:
I have a spearazon that has 175 pois dmg over 5 seconds. But when I add 2 charms to my inv with each 6 pois dmg over 3, my dmg in the Character window actually shows lower instead of higher.

    How come?

BTW I used to play over 2 years ago, but then I found Second Life  So now im back, and find some new stuff or stuff I forgot all about.

    Re: poison dmg

Poison displays with a length and total damage, but it really has a length and rate. The 175 over 6 seconds is really about 1.17 damage/frame over 150 frames. 6 over 3 seconds is really:.08 d/f over 75 frames.

To calculate poison damage, you sum the rates, and average the lengths. In your case, you get:
    • 1.17 + .08 + .08 = 1.33 damage per frame
    • (150 + 75 + 75)/3 = 100 frames
    • => 133 damage over 4 seconds.
It doesn't pay to have short rate low damage charms.

    Re: poison dmg

Calculate damage per second for each poison source, add the values together. That's the total damage per second you will deal.

Add up durations, divide by the number of poison sources. That's the duration of your poison attacks.

The CS shows the total damage over the duration. Damage per second is 175/5 + 6/3 + 6/3 = 39 damage per second. Duration is (5+3+3)/3 = 3.67 seconds, so total damage over that time is 143. Don't worry, it just depends on damage peer second, as you will surely hit your enemies more than just once per 3.67 seconds and poison damage from multiple hits of the same source won't stack.

Edit: TGT was quicker than me, but my calculation is more precise

Thank you both for your explanations :)

I still have kind of a language barrier here. What do you mean with "poison damage from multiple hits of the same source won't stack" ?

    Re: poison dmg

If you physically hit an enemy once (and therefore applying your Poison Damage), you start off the damage/second. If you hit the enemy again within the time range of your poison damage, you'll only get the period of damage to be extended, not the damage itself.

    You're only more precise because I turned a 5 into a 6. boo.
