    is there a command that shows ping and fpa on screen when playing diablo

    typing /fps puts a number of system/connection stats on the screen, including ping.

    I usually only toss it up there when the game is obviously lagging.

    Note that the Frames per second it shows has nothing to do with the frames per second used to determine speed of attack. It's just a handy command to see if you are lagging.

    you need to change one of the windows settings on some machines in order to see it, otherwise the font is so small that you might think it does not show up
    unfortunately I dont remember what do you have to change

    The fps on /fps tells you whether your computer is slowing up or not (if you run the game in window mode this should be 100+) could be doing a back ground task if it is unusually slow, the ping tells you if your connection is lagging.
