I think Retro's point is that the benefits of max block do not outweigh the loss in HP when dueling in general. That you face more opponents which benefit from you having lower hp and max block than the alternative. The point he made that block won't help you too much vs. BvCs is the observation that if you face a good BvC, your block will not make a big enough difference to offset the downside of having less HP vs all those other classes which benefit more from you having less HP. He based it on his dueling experience, so fair enough.
Reading his posts, i'm pretty sure he didn't mean that blocking is useless.
Personally, I run a max block necro (uswest); mainly because playing from Aus on dialup gives me 400+ ping, so no block is more detrimental to me than the gain in HP.
As to the oringial question, the hardest classes are the es sorc (survive too long, deal big damage), BvC (deals big damage), and windy (lotta life, minion stack negates spirits), mainly for the reason in brackets.
