    Playing without the cd?

First I would like to clear up that this is NOT software priacy. I have purchased Diablo 2 and the expansion pack. The problem is I left them at my college over spring break and since I won't be partying somewhere warm (I managed to dislocate my knee) I am desperate need of a diablo fix.

So anyone know a legal way around the need of a cd key?

    Thanks a lot,
    -Gp

No legal way to get around the cdkey or cd. There is one to get around use of a CD but I'm not sure of the legality of it. If it is legal someone will mention it.

The cdkey I do have, and the game is installed. It's just getting around the cd check that I could use some help...something in the grey area of legality would be ok (such as ini file editing). I am just not looking for any hacks.

There is no way. Drive back or have your parents drive back for you.

Alas, my college is on lockdown. Now the question becomes, can I wait a week or am I desperate enough to go by another expansion pack cd.....

D2Loader violates all sorts of laws other than ones in the EULA. Third-party programs are known to have trojans and backdoors in them - I wouldn't trust him.

No one listens to poor old me. Violate what you will, but I hope you made sure that whatever file you downloaded was clean. Scan the file with virus software first, it would make both of us feel better. I recommend The Cleaner, it picks up many viruses that the commercial programs like Mcafee and Norton miss.

It is a modification of the diablo executable. If it allows use of game without CD it's infringing on CD protection laws. I'm not terribly concerned about those though, I'm more worried about the chances of such a program having a virus or trojan.

Someone allready mentioned "other laws". I am more curious as how you manage to come to the conclusion the EULA itself is law or contain laws?

First, you can't infringe on laws, you infringe on copyright. Anyway, most countries doesn't have any "CD protection" laws. Perhaps you could elaborate a bit on them by the way and how the ones in your country would be violated here. Do note that there is no copying going arround, it is just an access check. Would be good to mention your country as well since laws do differ which is appearant here.
