Players 8 over b.net?

Players 8 over b.net?

ok, obviously we dont know how many chars will be allowed into a game at once with D3, but should the enable it so you can max out the difficulty over b.net?

I say yes. Why not let someone who wants to play alone or with a friend make the game more challenging? I think this would be a good add on for D3

Re: Players 8 over b.net?

It depends.

The whole point of doing it in Diablo 2 is to get better exp and drops, without having other players hog all the loot. Plus, even though you are technically playing single player, you can benefit from being able to trade with other players to get items you want.

In Diablo 3, all three of those points could be moot. You might be able to buy good items at the vendors - plus the game could easily be more difficult with multiple players.

It would be a nice "emergency lever" though in the case of hardcore players, who routinely have to deal with players trying to kill them using hacks. Then, until the problem is solved, HC players can still level-up and loot-up solo.

Just my 0.02 pgems.

Definietely agree 100%. Nothing is more annoying than when you go into a game of duelers, put up with their jocularity or squelching them all, then you're about to kill the first seal boss and they all leave! Why does Blizzard force me to find tard games and join them? They should just let me use players /X.

I don't think they will though in d3 because they want to encourage us to play with others.

I think the "/players" setting was created to bridge the gap between single player and multiplayer experience. Just a way for SPers to have a chance at drops more in-tune with what MPers were experiencing during the good(?) days of b.net and to allow for similar class builds and leveling experience.

So it's sort of ironic now hearing about MPers wanting that on b.net

Well blizzard assumed that everyone in D2 would get along, hold hands and Q and farm together. Not really the case. bots, hacks, pkers, spammers, duelers, pick it users, all ruined the experience.

adding /players 8 to b.net actually woulda been a great idea for them to add on the new patch.

They encouraged people to work together in D2 (or else this feature prob. would have been over b.net) and are going to again in D3. lets hope it works out better the 2nd time around (and sounds like it will).

I think it came down to balancing SP vs. MP in D2, but would still be a nice feature to have in any of the three games

^Actually, even without all the cheats, the player base isn't always something you want to deal with. We've all experienced: "Can I have free stuff?" No. "Noob. Go kill urself." [Leaves before you can say anything]

Why does Blizzard force us into games we don't really want to join? I think closing the gap between SP and MP may be impossible because of the ecconomy. Diablo is so item based and MP will always have the giant pool of items found by thousands of players who are eager to sell.

For the sake of SP fans, I'm all for making SP as good as MP, but maybe there are other ways besides only allowing players /X for SP.

I'm not against it, mind you. How could I? I don't even play, or will play, b.net.

Only problem I see however is that this has the potential to reduce the number of games with more than one player. But indeed, what to do when a game on b.net is such a volatile thing as stillman describes.

Well they should also make SP as good as MP.

IMO there shouldnt be any real difference in SP and MP except for the feel of community and the OPTION to play with other people if you want to. I hope blizz makes it fun and interesting to want to play with strangers but the track record isnt good for the Diablo games haha.

While I personally wouldn't be against it, it seems that they are really trying to eliminate the number of games on b.net with just 1 or 2 people in them, so this seems like it would be counter productive to that end.

I do occasionally like to play though the entire game with just 1 other friend, but still want to be able to use that character and trade on b.net etc. (so LAN game doesn't work for that), so it'd be great if we could up the difficulty though, so it would be a nice addition, I just don't see it happening.

We have individual drops now, which in the Dev's mind has probably eliminated the number one reason why people don't want to game with each other, the sharing of loot. Not sure if the Devs will want to admit/realize that just getting away from the less mature members (possibly the majority?) of the B.net community is a large driving factor for many as well, and it seems like a lot of DIII.netters feel this way. I'm kind of in between, because every once in a while you do meet some cool people on b.net, but there is no denying the "Free Itams!?1oneone" and "instantly hit all seals right away while leaching w/ a low lvl character" crowd exists in large numbers either.

Yes. That's the One reason I don't even consider online games anymore. With the exception of wargames, turn based grand strategy and 4x strategy, I do not touch an online game with a 10 foot pole.

Eventually I lost all patience... so I'm better of either on my own, or playing with friends on "close circuit" LAN, or playing games the acne-filled-pokemon-collector crowd is a considerable minority and easily disposed of.

I wonder if having it be an option before you enter a game, instead of in game would work

Having this would be like having Loader.. In hardcore it has been nearly impossible to find public games with more than 1 player for long time because people play at their private games with loaders filling the game.
