Pit Runs- the basics

Hey, I've been playing d2 for a few years but took a break for University and b/c I wanted to break my computer haha. I've heard alot about pit running but I'm still alittle foggy as to what, where, and why. If I could get some of those answered that'd be great :howdy:

Pit is in act 1 Tamoe Highland. The closest way is to go thru the wp of outter cloister and follow the road. The Alvl is 85 so all the times in the game can be dropped there. It might not be as rewarding as Meph, but ANY items can be dropped there.

You should have around 150-250mf. The purpose is the do pit runs in shear number. Eventually a few good things will appear.

The best class for pit runs are dual element sorcs, most types of necros, hammerdin, Conc barb, trappers and wind druids.

You can search for a detailed guide with the search function.

Hope this helps

Ahm, the most common char for pitruns is imho the Bowazon, the fastest way to clear that place. :)

Thanks guys that helps alot, sounds like I'll be doing that for awhile, and hopefully Qor is right with the Bowazon thing cause that's what I'm working with. Thanks again :)

Just to complete this "Pit basic":
There are cold, lightning and fire immune monsters there. Ph immunes bosses can ocure occasionally.
Devilkins revived of their shamans can be anjoing - Nature peace ring or freezing skill can solve this problem though.
I runed this place with 2 el sorc and bowazon - with good effect in both cases. Zon (a simple strafe/FA build wearing Mavinas set) is faster but has less mf.
~400mf is perfect for set/uniques
Great killing speed is best if you are looking for eths, runes, sockets, charms etc.

Two good things about strafezons doing pitruns:

1) You don't need to sacrifice much killing speed to get above mf 200. People usually don't compromise on things like amu (Cat's Eye), gloves (LoH) and first ring (Raven Frost).

2) Bowazons aren't very popular. So you should easily be able to get an Eaglehorn for pgems (now somebody will say it's useless but it isn't). Windforces have dropped dramatically in price as well, and should be within your reach in time.

Burizons was a popular char for... not-very-sofisticated players in .09. This type of players abandoned zons in .10. A strafe zon can still be a tremndous fighter though - if correctly built.
