pissed at gamestop

Re: pissed at gamestop

I don't exactly know how they sell these larger packages, but when it comes to selling new games, it's pretty well-documented that they are very shady.

Therefore, I'm not saying whether or not your particular Gamestop sold you that World Tour package new or "new", but it definitely wouldn't surprise me if it was the latter.

As a result, I've been advising people I know to only buy used games from Gamestop and to purchase the new merchandise from your larger stores like Wal-Mart or Target. At least with the Gamestop stores around here, it seems like the return policy varies store by store so trying to argue with them is always a pain.

Where? (10 chars).

Edit: Did some googling, and I'm perhaps a little more symphathetic now, but I like statistics and official reports.

This particular incident happened a few years ago, but try googling "Gamestop class-action lawsuit". I did myself and found a link to the gamestop.com domain, but it looks like it's been removed/replaced.

Still though, it seems like when I see someone purchase a new game from there, the employee takes a case and a "new" cd that's behind the counter. I just believe that if you purchase a new game, it should come with the plastic wrap and everything and not previously touched by someone else like that. I would love to hear any explanation on why they handle the games like that.

I've also heard rumors that they let employees or close friends of those employees rent new releases then try to resell them as new. I haven't seen anything official pertaining to this, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if it's true.

Until people can return to demonstrating that they know the difference, why not?

:funnyabove: Have fun with that.

Relatively new as opposed to what?

Or their inventory system was not designed to work with random customer queries prompted by return/refund/exchanges, and informal attempts to work around this limitation exposes Gamestop to other more significant risks. Whether this design was a result of policy or just an oversight does not imply that employee training is deficient or that the employee in question just didn't care.

I'm sure gamestop has an email address that you can send complaints too.

I doubt this is the case, as they will test used products in front of you to show that they work. If it's in the original package and hasn't been tampered with, it's not their problem. Your assertion that they intended to deceive you is almost certainly wrong. One of the reasons you mentioned below..

Of course it is, but GameStop didn't become a chain by following a consistently bad practice in all of its stores. Your individual case does not necessarily reflect on the whole, and it does not seem that you have given the more likely possibilities due consideration.

Edit:One of the reasons being that without that receipt that you happen to have lost, they don't have sufficient reason to believe you are the person who purchased those items on the other day even if they did look it up. The employee (if it's the same person) may or may not remember you, but his/her job is more important at this point.

Perhaps if you wanted to suggest GameStop adopt photo identification standards for its customers.:whistling:
this is the first console I've bought since sega genesis and the only reason I bought it was because my wife really wanted wii sports and fitness and I figured I'd get guitar hero because I enjoy it. I don't buy consoles because they are generally a waste of money, so not shopping at gamestop will not be a problem as this was the first, and last time I will do so.

I don't know if I stated this clearly enough so I'll try again. When I went to return the game the manager of the store told me they couldn't return it because guitar hero: world tour was defective, not just mine, the bulk of them (if not all for wii). Again not just because mine was defective but because they knew that most of them were defective. So they at very least knew that what they were selling me was most likely not going to work properly. They did not tell me "hey you have a chance this might not work, and if it doesn't we can't take it back." as they probably should have.

Since I paid for the product with a credit card if it is returned the money will be returned to my credit card. It doesn't matter in the slightest who returns it, I will get the money back. So there is no need for photo identification cards...

It seems like the employees at the store didn't really know that their entire stock was defective until you brought the situation up.
