My paladin uses a 44 resist sacred rondache phoenix. Its weak compared to SS or exil defense wise and I wouldnt recommend it for pvp.
The lvl22 firestorm combined with -28%fire resist combined with big enhanced damage help in killing monsters faster though. The redemption aura also keeps the energy orb full at all times. My paal runs with zero mana leach and has very few problems.

Phoenix also makes a nice back up/main shield for avenger. The redemption aura helps with vengeance mana leach and the fire damage/-fr res% are potent combined with conviction aura.

Phenoix is a most suited for PvM Anvegers and Zealot types, so If you plan on making either of the characters, then, yeah sure you can give it a shot, but I'd recommend Pheonix with resists pally shield for PvM, the Ed/AR is for Gm non-tap heavely zealot duelers. Or else you'll lack resists for pvm.

I prefer eExile for PvM, but occasionally Ill bring my Dragonslayer into Zeal duel games just to screw around, he's geared fairly well, but Ive learned that any Zealot with a Redemption aura is likely going to beat my ***.

thats when you smite the guy using zeal against you so you can win :p
    Anyways words of wisdom now

1 pt smiter this is what i keep on me for daily life:

    head: gface or COA
    body: fortitude
    weap: Grief
    weap2: cta
    shield: Eexile kurast
sheild2: spirit in pally shield (easier requirement)
    belt: dungos
ring: rare res ring duel leech
    ring2: raven
    ammy: highlords
    glove: dracul
    boot: gore

    Stash for swaping:
    1 phoenix shield
    1 coh
    1 enigma
    tgods
    1 ravenfrost
    2 angelic ring
    1 angelic ammy
    2 dwarf stars
    1 metalgrid
    1 bloodfist
    2 wisp
    1 treachery
    various SC's of all res/def/life
    * no hotspurs listed but i find its not needed.. i charge most casters and they all die in 1 hit.... and 2 dwarfs is more than enough to stand vs almost every fire sorc. 1 pt salvation is enough :)

this lets me swap whatever i need vs any person i fight, run ubers or whatever.

been thinking of testing bramble as a armor for more poison bout i doubt its worth it :p

ps: oppse hyjacked ur thread anyways to your answer.. yes decent phoenix shield :p ed/+ar pally shields all good ideas :) ed is the most importart part so your looking good.

Phoenix is a good PvM shield and for GM zeal duellers (Your DR will suck though unless u have ber ber coa and dungos).

The CtC firestorm cool down rarely affects zeal since zeal is now interruptible but be careful with Smite. Pausing between smite is hella annoying.
