Patriarch Nixton

Nixton, my fishymancer has earned his patriarch status! This is my first patriarch, so I feel kind of satisfied after he killed baal on the second time.

On his way from the bloody foothills to the worldstone chamber, he had some weird encounters. Well it didn't matter much though, just made him waste some of his time.

Nothing much happened from bloody foothills to crystalline passage. But at the glacial trail...

Let's play a game called "Find the Waypoint".
Look at this screenshot and find the waypoint. If you fail you owe me 100 zods(j/k).

Well he skipped this waypoint, and the next(frozen tundra) because he was kinda pissed. After entering the glacial trails, he made a left turn and found the entrance to the frozen tundra. He stayed back to look for the waypoint but alas! The waypoint didn't exist. Meh.

Well he owned the ancients, none of his skellies or revives or mercenary died even though korlic was fire enchanted. Decrepify rocks.

Later, he went down to the worldstone keep and found the level 2 waypoint after one turn, then he went to level 3. Met some immune to physical stuff but wasn't much of a problem because corpse explosion dealt fire damage and amplify could break their resistance. Physical damage took very long to kill them though. Next, he went to face baal's minions. Listor was suprisingly easy as the corpses of the venom lords before the listor pack did not get disintegrated by baal. So all it took was a few corpse explosions before the whole pack fell.

He went into the worldstone chamber after baal went in, and again, decrepify rocks. Took a screenshot when baal was left with a silver of life because Nixton was going to be my first patriarch.

One thing that puzzled me was this. No! What's this? Crap!

Whatever, I did baal again. Took another screenshot when baal was left with a silver of life.

And, finally.

Well, that's all about it. I introduce to everyone, my first patriarch.

These drops are worse than the drop I found in glacial trail. Atma readout can be found in Itemfind thread. Think I'm gonna start a meteorb or blizzard sorc to run /p8 pindle. Any suggestions as to which build I should go? I have a pure lightning sorc though, but she... you know...

:clap::clap:
Congrats on your first pat! and as far as characters go, its hard to ebat a fishy for fun and killability.

congrats!
i zoomed all over that screenshot with ACDSee and couldn't find the thing...though it looks like there is a small unexplored area.

it is weird you didn't get quest6 for the first time. i had things like that happening to me in mp, but never in sp. is that a known "bug"?

also don't feel bad about the Baal drops. the 7 or 8 throne rushes i've just done with my sorc totalled a single unique and no sets, so consider yourself lucky :p
As for your up and coming sorceresses...i would have tought pure lightning is good for doing pindle. You can of course build a meteorb girl just for fun (they are _fun_), but you already have two potent mf-ers at your disposal...so if you just want some itamz...start running things with this fishy i say.

Umm, if you're going /p8 with Pindle for MF, AFAIK, it doesn't matter cause /p1 and /p8 gives you the same number of drops with Pindle. But experience-wise, there's a big difference.

Grats on the Pat!

Congrats on the Patriarch! :) At least you got two first-drops. Not everyone that gets that from that stingy Baal.

Congrats!

By the way, Baal sucks for drops. That's my personal opinion and i'm sticking with it!

Interesting that you used a Fire Golem. That's a bit out of the box thinking ... good for you.

Yes I agree, Baal sucks for drops. I used a cheesy hammerdin with enigma and 600++ mf. At least 500 runs already, since march, nothing.

Anyway whats wrong with fire golem?

Fire golem was recommended by fishy in the latest update to the guide because its aura attracts monsters to it, and not you. But AFAIK it doesnt kill anything, like the clay golem cant really kill anything in hell.

Oh, I wasn't implying that anything was wrong with a Fire Golem.

It's just that most people do the Clay Golem thing in the context of a Fishy. I like it for the incredible slow effect which makes Boss running a breeze. Safe and effective.

Plus, one hard point is great for a Clay Golem after +skills. Very efficient use of skill points.

Since I utilise the Marrowalk synergy "bug" I want as many hard points left over to max my bone synergies to have a useable bone spear/spirit. Currently with my level 94 Fishy I have the usual max RS, SM, CE and one point in the prereqs and curses and mages/revives. My bone spear is ~ 1.2-1.3k per which makes certain situations faster ... although it's not a deal breaker by any means.

I'm considering remaking another Fishy and moving maybe 7-10 hard points away from CE reducing the radius from ~ 11.7 yards to, what, ~8 yards? and putting those points into synergies (probably bone wall) so in the end i'll get I think ~ 1.5-1.6k bonespear/maybe more spirit, even tougher bone wall, and 70-100 more points in bone armor.

All without skillers and with full MF gear.

Maybe someday i'll use Fire Golem. My Gumby is kinda boring nowadays.

Since baal wasn't a problem so I did not switch to clay golem. When I fought mephisto a few days ago, I used clay golem upon reaching him.

Interesting. I haven't followed up with NF's guide lately.

I'm wondering whether NF just wanted to do something a little different with the FG recommendation?

Like I said in the previous post:

Fire - needs more points. Great if you are a pure summoner/CE because you have an excess of points. Not so good if you hybrid since it takes away hard earned points that can be used for bone synergies.

Fire aura attracts monsters - cool, I can understand that. However, not a big deal for me because that's what necros do - they use AI curses to manuever monsters and their packs to behave how we want them to behave. If I want to attract a monster i'll use the curse Attract. Simple. Plus, any possible disadvantage of rounding up monsters attracted by the Fire Golem aura that would come to you is negated by Attract and the fact that you have an army to tie them up.

I'll lose Gumby's slow effect - i'd hate to lose this. Making a Boss go through slow motion replay along with Decrep makes me laugh.
