I try to use my highrune runewords at least once each for some build. Since I made my 'Destruction' Phase Blade @Brak has every now and then tried to push me to use it. And no wonder, Brak has put Destruction to use for real. Thanks for the inspiration!

Another source of inspiration was Vox Dei's Hydra casting Riftadin.

Once I revisited that thread before playing my own version of "Orbadin", it all fell into place. Hydras from Dragonscale and the chance to cast Volcanoes from 'Destruction' along with some + fire skill damage should do well enough.

Build:

Basically as much plus skills and +FSD% for the Hydras as possible. Sure a Zealot would like to have CBF in form of one Raven and some more crushing blow and deadly strike etc. But I stayed with the theme.

Maxed Holy Shield along with extra points in Defiance. This made for a really tanky character with max block. Another option would've been more points to Blessed Aim for passive AR bonus, but Conviction takes care of any problems with AR. Maybe useful for the first couple hits before conviction kicks in.

Playing:

I have took two Zealots through Norm&NM from which one trough Hell lately, so I wanted to do something else this time. And I also tried to pick up the fastest twinking option.

Norm: Khalim's + envy. then Raven Claw, from lvl 27 I quested as a Hammerdin.

NM - Hell Act 1 Hammerdin upgrading as I saw best. Using Teleport staff on switch for more speedy questing. Put Enigma and other Hammerdin basics on for levels 65-80. 75-80 were done in the Pits. After that I could equip the Dragonscale and switch for the final build.

One of the first PI encounters. I was really happy to see fire ripped through that thing with ease. After leveling was done in the Pits I stayed players 3 for the entire playthrough.

Since the last parts of Act 1 I started to routinely use Hydra in every single battle. It doesn't do huge damage, but certainly earned its part of the build. Especially against PIs it did some nice extra damage. High resistant enemies barely noticed it, though.

Fireworks! When in narrow places, I often cast Hydras to the backside of the group we were fighting with. When reaching those they would be nicely softened and faster to kill ;)

Screenshot1123.jpg Hydra duel! Hydras were useful in areas with dolls. They can attract enemies, so I always ran away from dolls while casting some hydras until my merc was around and could poke them to death. Act 3 was easy. Councils made me do some steps back but that was it.

I tried my best to melt the ground here! Might merc with 'Doom' is an awesome combo btw. Kills quick (and gives dmg boost to you) but also makes for a great crowd control with Holy Freeze. Act 4 provided no problems. The praised merc died a few times in Chaos though :p

D stands for Darude!!! From early areas I remember having both archers and the slingers in Bloody Foothills. Could be an annoying combo but max block helped a lot. As well as drinking pots. Crystalline Passage had Blood Lords (PI) and the ghost type (PI). No bad boss combos so it was all good.

Ready, steady, GO!! In general I try to avoid re-rolling Ancients by having a character with enough tricks to beat them on first try. For some reason I thought these could provide to be a problem, but no PIs and only one FI, and no bad auras or anything. So it was really easy.

Throne had dolls, gloams and vipers, great! I had no problems, but merc who took more heat, died a few times.. WSK levels had some nice battles also, but nothing too dangerous.

No PI Lister, so I can say I could kill every encounter I had during this play. Waves were ok, only wave 2 was a little chaotic withouth CBF and under Decrepify. Mummies resurrected some gloams and dolls on top of that.

What else? I think there were no great drops. While leveling as a Hammerdin I had some nice MF. That netted me a Tomb Reaver's but it was only one socket.

What next? I have many characters under progress. Maybe taking one of the two Zod God character to the end would be nice.

It seems like it would be pretty clunky swapping between aura and hydras all the time, but the rest of the mods on Dragonscale are indeed quite useful.

Did you reach a decent Zeal bp, and did you find the ctc interruptions a problem?

And good that you mentioned Zealing breakpoints. "Sacrificing" everything for tiny bits of more Hydra damage was easier as Phase Blade with zero additional IAS happens to swing pretty fast. 6/6/6/11 was the Zeal speed, i.e. 3.57 attacks per second. There were some bps that would have been easily reached, but I like it the way it is now.

I barely (if at all) noticed the interruptions. There's so much going on when you Zeal away that it's hard to see your character let alone observe those.

Congrats on yet another cool and off-the-wall pat. You sure have a good pace of making those. I might have asked this in one of your previous threads, but how long does it take you to level a char to pat / mat on average?

Yeah the last 3-4 have been finished quite close to each other. On the other hand, it was my 12th mat/pat over ~1year now, so one per month is nothing crazy yet, I'd say :p

I nowadays tend to play lots of characters parallel with each other, so finishing many in short time span can happen at some point. I would have to try timing my playing, cause it is really hard to say the average time as I can imagine the variation is quite big between the characters. Himalaya's Hell was a lot faster than Darude's, but Darude flew through norm and nm as quick as I could, for example. I also now and then pick different twinking options and use random skills for a while, so even the twinking phases are not really consistent between characters or even within classes. Maybe something to pay attention in the future :)
