Passive Zon?

Passive Zon?

I've been building characters I've never built lately in order to see if I can find any new builds I'd like to play. I saw the passive zon story and it sounds like an interesting character I did a search but couldn't find a guide. Could anyone give me an idea of how the build works and the gear needed?

Superdave's thread is the only thread in this forum. In the SPF you should be able to find one or two also. I believe a guy names insane wayne made a passive son, iirc. Check there too. I think that there are some pics of Dave's point distribution, but I have no idea which page they're on. Maybe ask him.

It's more or less a theme build, though you can use the same idea's about equipment and skill though use a dagger as weapon. You will get good attack speed, very cheap weapon and good block rate.

P.S. There is this other site that has a build about them. Their guides stink, though it proves that a daggerzon is possible.

Re: Passive Zon?

I wrote a build for a daggerzon a few months ago. I loved that build.

Good guide, those armors choices are good. I like to add one more.
Looks good (black, pure black) and gives some group control.
High str req., but those charges are cheap to repair, about 1k/charge.
And that iron maiden curse triggers quite often too.

This armor is rarely used for any build, but if you are using stormshield, you have enough str to wear this or even upped one. High runeword armors beat this 100-0, but this is fun to use. And its BLACK

Corpsemourn - uniq armor
---
Defense: 1127-1262 (varies)(Base Defense: 417-450)
Required Level: 55
Required Strength: 170
Durability: 60
+150-180% Enhanced Defense (varies)
Level 5 Corpse Explosion (40 Charges)
Adds 12-36 Fire Damage
6% Chance To Cast Level 2 Iron Maiden When Struck
Cold Resist +35%
+10 To Vitality
+8 To Strength

While I wouldn't consider it a particularly good armor, I agree that it would be fun to try it out on a build. Might as well be this one.

Re: Passive Zon?

Cool, I'll download those guides and have a look at them. Along with the build I found lastnight online that should keep me busy for a while. Thanks, guys. :prop:

Well I won't be running around killing stuff with cracked gear or using a naked zon  , but I'll let you know how I like the build when I get the gear up to build it.

Re: Passive Zon?

I built a daggerzon, it was very fun to play. I only died once, it was funny though. It was in a nm baal run (sc ladder) and I'd just switched to my um'ed fleshripper and while my old dagger wouldn't kill me while Im'ed the fleshripper killed me quick.

Next I'm going to try a throwzon (the guide I found online) as soon as I find the weapons I need, it sounds like it'll be a good build. I've also decided to make a side project and build a HC passivezon on SP for something different to do. One of the few things I've never done in d2 is make Guardian, heck I've never even made it out of a1 normal in HC, but that was a long time ago and I've learned a lot since so hopefully I can do it. I'll be using gear and try to go one pass only on monsters/bosses but I'm still new to HC and zons so it's hard to say what I'll do until I try it, but I will be going at it untwinked so that will be a challenge for me. Wish me luck!

Re: Passive Zon?

I think I am going to do a daggerzon next. Tell me more about the gear you used and where you found difficulties.

Thanks

Re: Passive Zon?

Helm: Dream Bone Visage (I was going to use a guillaume's face but I had this laying around on a mule from a melee sorc and I thought it'd look cool (it did btw ))
Armor: AP Fort
Belt: Tgods (I didn't see any belt suggestions in the guide so I went with these)
Gloves: +3 Passive Skills (I'm sure there probably are better but that's what I used)
Boots: Gore Riders
Weapon: Fleshripper (Um'ed)
Shield: Stormshield (-15 req. jewel)
Ammy: Maras 20 res.
Rings: 20 dex. Ravenfrost, Rare dual leech
Torch, Anni
1 Passive skiller, 2x 15 all resist gc's

I didn't have much troubles in normal, the low level gear I use has plenty of life leech. A friend of mine joined me for ancients though after the ease I had killing diablo I doubt I needed the help, but I know my friend did so I let him join me.

In nm I was going to use a heart carver but I mf'ed a very nice rare bone knife so I used it instead. It worked awesome but the repairs kept me broke through nm even while using any orts I could find. The only place that slowed me down in nm was chaos sanctuary, lost my merc to IM and let valk clear from there.

The maggot lair in hell was slow going because only 1 or 2 of us could attack and even though I know to always go right on the first 2 levels I spawned really bad maps. In arcane it was a little slow, not too bad though my merc was using a eth reaper's toll so the decrep helped us kill the phys. immunes. In the river of flames I spawned venom lords, urdar's and blood maggots. They weren't difficult but the maggots were painfully slow to wade through. In chaos sanctuary I lost merc again and it took a half hour for valk to clear then less than 2 minutes to kill diablo . After that it was easy, even baal was no match for us.

I'm going to keep an eye out for better gloves and use guillaumes when I build this again, I think the added cb will do well. Also I might use a ss with a p diamond instead next time, the less life won't hurt much as I had over 1500 life before bo at 81st level when i finished the build (with very few life sc's), plus then I'll be able to use a spirit on switch and get a little of that life back. I'm wondering if adding a nosfertu's coil would be good, this build doesn't have much ias.

O.K. that's about it, hope you have as much fun as I did.
