OT: Some help with .bin files pleeeaaassseeeee!!!

    Hello all,

    here is the problrm.

i downloaded 17 files with the extension .bin. these are about 14.65 mb each and supposed to be imag files of a game cd. i can make .cue files for each of them. but i have not been able to :

    (a) get the game to run
    (b) merge all these 17 bin files into one huge image file
    (c) extract data from these individual file into one folder

have tried some experiment with Daemontools, IsoBuster, MagicIso...but maybe i dont know exactly what to do....
    i am going crazy !!!

    help please !!!

.bin files are compressed files, usually for the Mac, and you need to use Stuffit Expander to unstuff them. You can get a free version from the company website at: www.stuffit.com

If you use Windows, get the free Windows version, not the Mac one.

The .img image files (which should appear after you unstuff the .bin files) may be Mac only and can be opened by double-clicking on them if you have Mac OS X. I don't even know what a .cue file is.

    Hope this helped some.

Sorry, this sounds like help for modding.

If it is modding, we cannot answer this question here (forum rules) but I can point you to a mod site which most likely can help you, the Phrozenkeep:

    http://phrozenkeep.it-point.com/

    EDIT:
Reading more it seem to be hacking, in that case we can also not help you (again forum rules).

Hmmm, I didn't get that, Randall. I assumed that it was legit, since a lot of Mac freeware, shareware, and demos are stuffed and offered for download on the Internet regularly, legitimately. (See, for example, gamehouse.com, versiontracker.com, macgamefiles.com, etc.) I assumed it was a Windows-using person not realizing that these files were Mac-only.

Are you trying to get the game to run without the CD in the drive? Everytime I hear someone refer to CD images this is what they're trying to do. Just curious.

Well, if it's for freeware/shareware it is legal I guess.
But if it's for D2 (which I assumed) it's not

well, it's not got an OT label for nothing you know

Edit: I've got a real big.bin file with a real tiny.cue file next to it, so unstuffing might not be the way to go...

loading the.cue file in daemontools starts the program ok for me, so .bin works

edit: tried opening them with winrar yhet?
