OT: looking for good statistic book for beginner

Hello stat experts, I need your help and advice. I keep failing my statistic class, I think I need a good stat book to learn from. Could you please suggest me some good stat book for a beginner to self learning? Thanks for any advice.

    PS: I'm an economics student

Thankyou superdave, really appreciated. It's a good book for a stats dummy like myself :p

I think that Larry Gonick's Cartoon Guide to Statistics is a better introduction, but opinions of course will vary. His other books are excellent as well, particularly the "History of the Universe" ones, which I think were the beginning of the effort.

I've read that one, but still not enough.. I wish the book can provide everything and clear enough so I don't need someone to explain or teach.
    Thanks
