OT- I could use some opinions in here.

While I left for quite some time, I am back. I actually came back for a very brief period of time when I considered playing Diablo 2 again. This was during what I'm sure you guys refer to as "The Greybeard incident." While I have been back only a short time, I already feel like I'm just a college kid who's come back to mom and dad after graduation, which is to say, I feel like I'm back home again. For this reason, I come to you guys for advice/opinions.

Ok, I am working on version 2 of Disc Read Error(my website if you guys couldn't have guessed), and I have a question for you guys. Here's the current site.

www.discreaderror.com

And here's version 2

www.discreaderror.com/v2/forum.php

Now, we are switching from phpnuke to e107, so the second one is how it's gonna look overall. That logo will NOT stay. It looks like ***, period. My question is, with the new version 2, is that reddish color good? I actually really like the looks of it, and there's aren't any game sites that I know of using a red color overall(with exception of diabloii.net, but that's for just one game, not a general gaming site). Gamespot has their orange and black. Snackbar has orange. Etoychest is going with the standard blue theme of e107(to be honest, I think that's kinda lame. NEVER use the default theme on a content management system unless you want your site to look like every other one out there.) Gamespy is green. IGN is filled with between page ads, and they can suck my balls as far as I'm concerned. PA has that blue and gray thing going. CAD has the green and gray.

Anyhow, back to my point. It doesn't seem like anyone uses a red theme that even looks similar to that, so perhaps that should work. I always liked green on the site, but then again, I'm not the only one using green. Do you guys think I should find a green theme for e107 that looks like that one does or should I just stick with the one I have set up right now?

All opinions more than welcome. I like that theme, but I think a green one could look really good too(as soon as I find one) so I'm not completely sure yet. Please, let me know what you think.

I really appreciate any opinions you guys give me, because as gamers, naturally, I will appreciate your opinions more since that's what this site is about. Please, let me know what you think. While I'm just asking about the color/theme, if you have any other comments, please let me know.

Keep in mind, not much is transferred over to version 2 yet. I'm still working on getting the theme I want. Then I'll finally transfer over all 300+ news posts(hopefully this goes smoothly) and then I'll transfer over our 70 game reviews.

So yeah, any opinions will be much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I'm not that great with suggestions, but one I will make is, it would be beneficial for the Forum not to keep on bringing up Greybeard. This issue has been dragged through the waters enough.

Aside from that, welcome back and hope you get some better feedback than mine!

Sorry, I wasn't trying to bring it up. Just using it as a reference for the timeframe that I came back for a week. I didn't like what was going on, so I left again. Now I'm back.

So anyhow, yeah, sorry...I'm not trying to drudge up old arguments...it's just what happened when I came back for that couple days. Sorry.

No it's okay, was trying to ensure that the sensitive subject didn't come up again!

The red looks better than the green IMO. Since I'm not big on the 'prettiness' aspect of web design though... :)

So far at other places I've asked I'm also getting people saying the red looks better. I may very well stick with that. It seems that most people that use e107 uses the default skin, which means that everyone's site looks just like everyone else's. I guess it doesn't matter too much though, because even though etoychest.org is using the default colors, they still get far more traffic than my site gets.

Perhaps I'll go with the red then. I kinda liked it, but I was having trouble justifying a color change without other's opinions.

If anyone has any other suggestions, i'd be glad to hear them. I'm trying to improve the looks and functionality of the site for our one year anniversary on June 1st, and any suggestions are more than welcome.
