my work had something similar... on IE if you typed in a few certain words they became links automatically.. can't remember what words... or what sites they went to though

This happened to me about a week ago, but went away as mysteriously as it appeared. I do have Norton Antivirus, so maybe I was innoculated :)

Funny sidenote is that I saw the "links" in a number of different SPF posters' entries, and I was all ready to start whacking them with my mod stick - until I realized they weren't guilty of anything. So I just used the hammer on myself :bonk:

well AE i have f-secure a software firewall and 2 diff adaware programs on my comp so i dont find it funny just annoying.

but it would have been intresting to try to get you to explain what links we would have posted. when we dont make them ourselfs

Lone Wolf isn't crazy. I was reading the news on cnn.com this morning and clicked a link to another story. I ended up here.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/subst/home/home.html/103-5202435-6246259

Sometimes when I got to the diabloii.net home page it looks like it's loading and then WHAM! I end up at this same amazon.com page. And then like AE said it goes away after a day or two.

Yes, I have all the usual protections running. ZoneAlarm, Norton AntiVirus, emptied the caches, AdAware, delete most cookies, defragged the HD.....

*hears Twilight Zone music playing in the background*

it must be odd for a person who can see them. every time soemone says diablo or blizzard, wchih i guess is quite alot here, soemeone wil see a link and wodner why its there...

Definately spyware. WHen I installed a free internet ages ago, I got the same thing in IE. I had to uninstall IE and reinstall to get rid of it.
