    OT: Feist trivia

Well, in light of the discovery of a decent number of feist readers hearabouts in Milamber's thread, i decided to string together a trivia thread. Created a number of questions, ranging from the very easy to the very difficult. Brownie points and Milamber-fresh cookies to the one who gets them all right :-D

To what duchy does Bas-Tyra owe allegiance?
Who was the first conDoin king to be called "The Great"?
What type of creature was Kulgan's pet Fantus?
Which member of the conDoin family did Nakor first meet?
Nakor was originally known as "Nakor the <what colour?> Rider?
Which metal is inimical to wraiths?
What Valheru was Tomas linked with during the Riftwar?
    What is Ishap's religious symbol?
What was the name and daily occupation of the original Upright Man?
The Inn in the Hall of Worlds is run by who?
Name 3 Hall of Worlds mercenaries.
Queg is known particularly for what manner of warship?
What was the name of the dragon that gifted Tomas with the Valheru sword and armor?
Which dwarven settlement is Dolgan king of?
What is the ancient elven translation of Aglaranna's name?
What is Arutha conDoin's favoured weapon?
Under what city was the Lifestone guarded?

That should do for now - feel free to add to these anyone. G'luck

well, it's been quite a time since i've read the whole series and now with the start of the Conclave of Shadows books, i've started to reread them starting with The Magician - 10th year anniversary edition..
From your questions Kronos, it seems i really need to reread
So from the top of my head, i can say that:

-Tomas was linked with the Valheru Ashen-Shugar (such a strange name i always thought)
-Kulgan's pet Fantus was a fire drake
-Wraiths were inimical to steel (i think)

    Aaaand the result is:

beau_nidle wins, with 11/17 correct :winner:

    The answers were as follows:

    1. Quite correct Milamber, Bas-Tyra is itself a duchy. Trick question.
    2. Delong - well done beau_nidle.
    3. Firedrake.
    4. Borric, who was then going by "Madman" in Kesh as he played the part of a mercenary with Ghuda Bule.
    5. Nakor the Blue Rider.
    6. Steel.
    7. Ashen-Shugar (i agree, strange name).
    8. A seven-pointed star.
    9. I didn't think many would know this one, lol. He was actually a chandler in Krondor, who went by the name of Donald. Jimmy reveals this to Lyse Rigger in the sewers of Krondor as the Emerald Queen's fleet arrives.
    10. Honest John.
    11. Boldar Blood, Jeremiah the Red, Eland Scarlet, and William the Gripper were the only 4 ever mentioned.
    12. Galley.
    13. Rhuagh.
    14. All i wanted was the Grey Towers, but you're quite right beau_nidle it was of village Caldara as well.
    15. Shining Moon (again well caught, this is only mentioned once).
    16. Rapier.
    17. Sethanon.

Methinks someone else needs to think up a list of questions this time, if you guys want to contine the trivia thread.

Loved Magician - brilliant book (especially the re-released version with the extra text). Still and all, I prefered the Empire series he wrote with Janny Wurts.

Feist is definitely one of my favorite writers. It's been a while since I read the original series though...but I have an authographed hard cover of Magician (well, the dutch version that is).

I like Feist, too. Unlike a lot of other fantasy authors he actually allows main characters to die which sort of keeps the books more interesting. (no, not because I like it when people die, but because you don't know for a fact that the "main crew" will always survive) Though I did feel sorry for poor Suli and Ghuda... Anyway, good quiz, I'd have been hard pressed to answer some of those questions.

1-What was Death's man-servant called when he lived on the disc?
2-What is commander Vime's badge number?
    3-What is Angua's brother called?
4-What number do wizards not mention?
    5-What was Rincewinds room number?
    6-What was Twoflowers daughter called?
7-What is the 8th son of and 8th son of an 8th son?
8-What is Magrats daughters full name?
9-What street in Ankh-Morpork is the Mended Drum on?
10-What is Granny Weatherwax's sister called?
11-How often fo million to one chances come up?
12-What is the name of the high priest is Pyramids?
13-How does Death get his money?
14-What started life on the discworld?
15-What are the names of the elephants that support the discworld?
16-When is the time to start running according to Rincewind?
17-What is the Veterinari family motto, and what does it mean?

I've got another list of question on the David Eddings books once you've all had a stab at these. :D

If you like fantasy genre trivia, i can come up with nice Dragonlance or Wheel of Time trivia questions if anyone's interested..And for the Discworld question about Vetinari's motto, i don't remember that but i can say that Rincewind's motto/quote is one of my favorites in the series:

    "morituri nolumus mori"

"we, who are about to die, don't want to"
