Having just discovered this thread, it's time for me to ramble on about my life at 6 in the morning, coming off a night of no sleep!
In a few weeks I'll be leaving the ice-pit that is known as Alaska for a good long time. Now that I've graduated high school, it's time to move on, and Portland, Oregon seems as good a choice as any. First, however, I'll be visiting relatives in Seattle for perhaps 2-4 weeks. Should be loads of fun, especially since I'll have a three-year old cousin to play with

The biggest downside to this is that my dad still lives up here, and there's no sign that he'll be leaving any time soon. Having never lived so far away from him, and given that we have a great relationship, it could be a little uncomfortable for a short while. However, Mom's moving to Portland as well - she's as tired of Alaska as I am - so she'll be nearby if I develop the seemingly typical college (university for you Europeans) student "I need money!" attitude
I will say that I won't be contributing any girl-trouble stories to the thread any time soon; I never bothered with trying to find a date throughout school, partly because most kids my age piss me off, and partly because I never met anyone that interested me. ...Okay, that last bit isn't quite true. Like everyone, I've had my crushes. Speaking of which, perhaps there's a relation between my no-dating attitude and the fact that my first major crush turned out to be a total witch, with a capital B. Heh.
I have a question as well. Any severely introverted folks have some pearls of wisdom relating to getting the hell out of your hometown for the first time?
One final note: I think I should share with you folks that I get Social Security* checks at the age of eighteen

Being "legally blind" seems to have its perks, eh?
*: this refers to SSI, which is apparently a sort of disability benefeits (I probably spelled that wrong) program, so it works entirely unlike the normal Social Security system. But for an 18-year-old, almost $400 a month just for existing ain't too shabby.
