i just bombed my second math test of the week. except that this one was a retest, because i bombed the first one a month ago. last week i got help from the teacher, had her explain everything step by step on what i did wrong on my old test, and she gave me a bunch of problems to do, and i did them all correctly. so when i take a look at the new test it looks pretty easy, and im doing really well until problem 5, the last one. I could not figure it out for the life of me. i am so angry right now that i want to break something and i feel like throwing up. i currently have a 72 in the class, and this was my chance to raise the grade to a high B. I think the part that makes me the most frustrated is that i knew how to do all of it, my mind just went blank at the exact moment that it shouldn't have, and the teacher wouldn't give me the time i needed to refocus and finish the test. so yeah my day really sucked.
Some people have test anxiety. Goltar had a friend in college who had it and after her doctor talked w/ the school, they gave her extra time on all her tests and had her take them in a seperate room.
Practice tests are helpful for training to focus when in a test taking situation. (SAT prep standard practice)
I used to have problems remembering what I needed for tests, I would remember history in math, and get econ math confused w/ calculus. The thing that was suggested for me was differnt colored inks for differnt classes. (pencil for math, blue for history, black for philosphy, green for econ, purple for Italian)
Try some differnt things and find what works for you, or talk to the teacher to find if there's another way to demonstrate your knowledge like teaching a class session (or write a lesson plan), tutor another student having difficulties, write a test and the answer sheet, arrange alternate testing procedure w/ the school. Etc. You know you know, now convince the teacher you know.
