OT: Burnout

Well, if this belongs in the RPG forum(sorry), I guess it should just be moved there.

Ah, anyway. I was lvling my Zealot in Hell, collecting items for 'new' builds I want to work on when I realized as soon as I make a new build, I'm gonna wanna make another new one.

Long story short: I'm gonna take a stroll down to EBGames and do a little browsing. Anyone have any recommendations for a good RPG/RTS? My primary concern is storyline (no matter how good a game looks, if the story sucks it goes right back for credit). PC or PS2, I don't care as long as it's not a FF game. :p

Im not sure if this game is on PC or PS2, but I own a XBox, and have Marrow Wind for it, great game, great story line, spose to be best RPG out there for anything, and it is, a great game, long one, takes alot of time, but none the less great, check it out

Try Gothic out. It may not have the best, msot realistic graphics, but the game world is magnificently colored and it has a very good storyline that got me addicted for a while. The gameplay is very open-ended, with you being able to choose whom to join and and which missions to do for them. It doesn't have the complications that games like Neverwinter Nights and Morrowing have, where you spend an hour choosing your type of character at the begining.

It's an rpg, with gameplay a bit like that of Morrowind or Anachronox. It's my second favorite rpg of all time, second to D2, and my third favorite game of all time. (D2 is first, UT is second, and Gothic is third.) Just wanna warn you, that Gothic II is a lot harder than Gothic I, and I liked Gothic I a lot more.

On a second note, I thought Morrowind's world was utterly digusting and too big.

I didn't like MorrowWind that much either (xbox). Not of MW in particular, but some of the newer games just...seem to substitute stunning graphics for a decent storyline.

If your dissatisfied with farcry:
Legend of Dragoon's good. Ps1 game, but as long as you pick up a memory card, ps2'll do fine.
or FF Chronicles (don't shoot!) for Chrono Trigger
Sure sure... its a snes remake, but its hard to top.

Tehe.. already own Chronicles.. which is why I said no FF games. :p

If most people realized that there ARE RPGs out there that aren't FF (Chrono, Xenogear/Saga, Tales of Destiny/Fantasia/Eternity) they'd realize that the FF franchise should've thrown in the towel after VI.. at least, that's my opinion. :p

Or come up with a new plot idea instead of just making the characters younger & younger, heh..

The only choice for you is Neverwinter nights! The story for Hordes of the Underdark (second expansion) is the best I think. Not really what you expect...
There is huge possibilities in "changing" the story as well, depending on race, gender, alignment, mage/warrior/druid/monk etc, and personal choices.
Neverwinter nights is a real RPG game based on D&D rules with lots of quests, characters, monsters and everything you ever dreamed of.
PM me if you want to know more.

EDIT: I wonder if Bioware will pay me now?

Is it online only or can I play it without having to pay (aside from when I buy it?)

Not really in any position to pay-to-play atm. :/

No pay-to-play at all. I've played single player most of the time, and TCP/IP with some friends. But trust me, you'll have fun without friends tagging along :)
Actually I think the server system sucks (I compare to bnet of course), but one good thing is that you can choose "no pvp" when creating games. Then it will be impossible to PK.

Hmm.. I will definitely have to check it out. The last PC RPG I owned was Icewind Dale but I wasn't head over heels about that one. :/
