Hey, KP:

When I was in college (not too long ago), I put hours and hours into doing pages--same as you--sent them in to big-time comic shops, and wham.... "Your work shows talent and skill, but we're just not looking for blah blah blah blah."

But, when I was lucky, someone would take the time to give me constructive criticism, and even though I didn't always want to hear it, I listened, sat back down, drew some more...and some more...and some more. And I tried it again.

I got into the second round selection process at Image comics once...but that didn't pan out. :(

So, I drew more, and more, and more.

On my part, I gave up pursuing drawing comics as a career, and have to satisfy my artistic desires by spamming these forums with my pics every month or so. :)

But, if you really want to stick with art for a living, then stick with it. It'll happen for you sooner or later.

Oh, and sorry about recommending the tennis pics--I never thought it would end so badly
You're right... now that I think about it, it IS your fault! Add addicted2macs to my hate list too  j/k, man.

Yeah, I'm not letting this destroy my love for drawing. No way, not gonna happen. I've poured far too many years of my life into perfecting my style, so this is a minor setback. Yesterday I was just caught up in the "initial rage" stage when I wrote this, so... Anyway, I figured the forum needs a good place to vent, so here we are.

My only real complaint with Tokyopop (by the way, Durf, they are a manga publishing company, and I blame you for not knowing that) is that their letter was generic in every sense of the word. I would rather they tell me I suck and why, rather than "you're really good, we had such a hard time choosing, thanks for contributing, blah blah". Constructive criticism is my friend, and I have no qualms with it, dangit! How else am I supposed to get better?

The fools. I'll show them! I'll show them all!! Mwuahahahahahaa!

*runs back to his "evil lair" to concoct more anime goodness*

Fish: Now?

K_P: No... I'm still at work.

Fish:.... How about now?

K_P: I'm gonna be at work for like 40 more minutes, man. And then I gotta create the webpages, which takes time.

Fish: So.... are you home yet?

K_P: No.

Fish: .... Now are you home?

K_P: !!!

:uhhuh:

What can I say... I have too much spare time and I believe that everybody should do what he can do best. It's not my fault that I'm good at being annoying. Maybe that's my purpose in life... :innocent:

Ding! A new gripe of mine (but hey, that's what this thread is for, no?)...

People on the net that talk like the following:

OmG, r U s3ri0us?? I wuz g0in 2 da st0r, & I wuz like, wtf!??

I belong to more than this forum, but because of crap like that, I tend to stay here a lot longer than anywhere else. Are kids these days really that lazy that they can't type a few extra letters here and there, or even -gasp- spell words without using the number pad?

News flash: To all you teens out there, using syntax like this doesn't make you cool in the least! If anything, it makes you look like an arse.

Case in point, I never go on cattle.net, mostly for this reason.

...yes, yes they are.

Personally I always try to ensure my posts, IMs (although I have a phobia of IM programs), emails, SMS messages, etc. are all properly spelt, punctuated and have correct grammar (well, the best I can manage anyway :) ), unless of course *ahem* I R MKN FN 0F TEH N00BL4R5 WUT TIPE LYK TH1S. I don't really care how much longer it takes to write or to read...

A general test of how likely someone is to type in that fashion is to ask them to spell 'what'.
