You're right... now that I think about it, it IS your fault! Add addicted2macs to my hate list too  j/k, man.addicted2macs said:Hey, KP:
When I was in college (not too long ago), I put hours and hours into doing pages--same as you--sent them in to big-time comic shops, and wham.... "Your work shows talent and skill, but we're just not looking for blah blah blah blah."
But, when I was lucky, someone would take the time to give me constructive criticism, and even though I didn't always want to hear it, I listened, sat back down, drew some more...and some more...and some more. And I tried it again.
I got into the second round selection process at Image comics once...but that didn't pan out.
So, I drew more, and more, and more.
On my part, I gave up pursuing drawing comics as a career, and have to satisfy my artistic desires by spamming these forums with my pics every month or so.
But, if you really want to stick with art for a living, then stick with it. It'll happen for you sooner or later.
Oh, and sorry about recommending the tennis pics--I never thought it would end so badly
Yeah, I'm not letting this destroy my love for drawing. No way, not gonna happen. I've poured far too many years of my life into perfecting my style, so this is a minor setback. Yesterday I was just caught up in the "initial rage" stage when I wrote this, so... Anyway, I figured the forum needs a good place to vent, so here we are.
My only real complaint with Tokyopop (by the way, Durf, they are a manga publishing company, and I blame you for not knowing that) is that their letter was generic in every sense of the word. I would rather they tell me I suck and why, rather than "you're really good, we had such a hard time choosing, thanks for contributing, blah blah". Constructive criticism is my friend, and I have no qualms with it, dangit! How else am I supposed to get better?
The fools. I'll show them! I'll show them all!! Mwuahahahahahaa!
