OT: An intro post

Hello All!

I played a lot of D2 a lot time ago (pre-synergy, super-powered A2 mercs, and super-hard-Hell mode), and recently returned to the game. This forum is a new find for me, and a very nice one at that.

Joining on to the single player forum, as the tournaments look like a blast. Gonna start with the Green with Envy one (jumping in late, I know), but looking forward to others as well. I have a few chars on the USWest ladder as well, but they're all low level and I may just abandon them for SP/Open MP guys.

Going to play v1.11b, RWM/RRM. Just downloaded ATMA - looks pretty cool.

As far as D2 stuff, I like:
- All the classes (Barbs the least, however)
- Obscure (but still viable) builds
- Summoning things (Skeletons/Wolves/Valks/ShadowMaster - anything!)
- Playing through the game instead of getting rushed
- Lots of goldfind and gambling for sweet rares
- Packratting things to sell

First builds for characters:
- Necro: Skeleton Overlord (Warriors + Mages ) - I know I know, not so obscure, but I loved my old necro that could get 30 of each type of skeleton!
- Sorc: Hydra/FO (Hydra's a summon, right? RIGHT??!)
- Pali: Conviction Zealot (Getting a Rift (or 2) would be :cloud9:)
- Zon: Ice Maiden
- Asn: Kicker (or Kick/Trap)
- Druid: Either a Fire Hunter or Town-Dump Bear (i.e., max the summons!)
- Barb: Frenzy for the GwE tourney - start with something nice and easy, I know :yikes:

Catch you all around!

Welcome to the SPF!

Nice detailed intro although you did make one mistake: intro threads aren't OT.

Have a read of the stickies and enjoy your stay. Good luck in the tourneys.

I don't think the game considers Hydra as minions... but someone is bound to correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyways, welcome to the forum, watch out for the squid, shin/crotch kickers, Thyiad/Sirpoops, and wallet/pant stealers.

I think you are correct, Hydra is a spell, not a minion. If they were minions then Fire Mastery would not apply to them, which would be retarded (and it does apply to them). Still, someone might come and correct us.

Also, Hello and welcome! Summons ftw!

Howdy Jabari! Welcome to the SPF.

Have a look through the Mat/Pat/Guardian thread and check out peoples threads on similar builds to what you're intending to try. Hopefully, you'll find a new tip or trick. Best of luck with the tourneys, and enjoy your stay.

It's both a spell and a minion, as far as I know. In early patches, FM didn't work with Hydra because of this, and they had to hack it in to get it to work. I'm not sure if it was a hack of the actual skill being tied to FM (receiving a synergy-like 'passive bonus', much like druid bear/wolf summon spells, or Prayer + Cleansing/Meditation), or if they hacked it to receive bonuses from any +% fire damage effects.

Sadly, the SPF is in all-time-low and is being fed to the dogs.
But there's no need to broadcast it, omg.
Where's you manners?

Anyway, welcome on board Jabari!
Pardon our bad manners.
And enjoy your stay!
