Orphan's Set?

i, unlike some, am rather poor - but i have stumbled upon full Orphan's.
do you think this could get me through Hell? if not, what cheap gear should i add?

i'm using

waterwalk
titans
eye of etlich
couple of somewhat decent rare rings

It is possible, though you can have more popular equipment for about the same price. And probably be more effective - damage wise.

A popular setup is something like this:
helm: peasant crown - or something with res if you need them.
armour: peace is an option, cheap as hell and has +2 skills. A more defensive option is viper magi. Res, +1 skill and (magic?) damage reduction.
Shield: you can keep you orphan's sheild for massive block. Put a res all gem in there and you have a defensive shield. More offensive would be spirit if you have a monarch or an other +1 skill shield. And think about rhyme -cannot be frozen - if you don't have a raven frost. If you find a nice rare, this is possible too though try getting some skills if you can.
amulet: again some skill, or res if you need. If you plan to have a bow on switch for using freezing arrow you can keep eye of etlich for massive freeze.
gloves: try shopping for some +3 skill gloves with 20 ias.
belt, get razortials, this is cheap and is end game gear.
boots: you can keep the waterwalk if you want, though have a look at Silkweave if you have mana problems.
ring: raven for cbf - or rhyme shield. And some other nice thing. Not that important.
weapon: titan, most important and you have one.

it sure can! i've made two orphan's javazons. when i did it i used full orphans + spirit + shako + titans. raven frost and a rare leech ring filled it out. great thing is all the res and str the full set adds. downside is low + skills and using orphans belt instead of razortail.

big ol' edit: i was talking about disciple set, my bad. never used orphans on a javazon.

Orphans Set gives many nice mods and bonuses as you have no doubt discovered. Unfortunately it is sorely lacking resistances which is probably why the designers of the set provide you with 2 sockets on the shield. You'll get another +36 Resist All from 2 Perfect Diamonds.

Whether you can complete Hell mode or not, will depend more on the skills you choose rather than what this gear can provide, assuming that you are investing skill points in the lightning tree. Hell is loaded with Lightning Immune monsters and the only mods on Orphan's that will help you deal with them is Crushing Blow and Deadly Strike, both augmenting physical damage. Titans will do decent physical damage but it will be slow to poke every lightning immune monster to death.

Unless you are planning to obtain an Infinity stick for an Act2 Dessert Warrior mercenary, I suggest you plan for this by finding other sources of damage that are not lightning. Don't be afraid to break the set up since the set bonuses aren't that great. Most of the benefits of the set come from the mods on each individual item.

You're probably thinking of Moser's Blessed Circle which has two sockets. Whitstan's Guard, while having insane blocking, has no sockets.

i have just filled the lightning tree (CS/LF) and am looking for a decent bow (FA) to deal with the pesky LI's. since my javazon is still low 60's clvl, i'll be hanging around in nm until i take care of that.

i have a peasant crown. so i should give guillame's face to my merc, then?
also, i'm using death glove and belt - 30 ias, 8%ll, cbf, 15% resist all. i wanted to know if i should switch them out.
i have an upped twitchthroe for armor
rings are manald and rare 109ar, 3% ll, +71 mana

many thanks to all for the input.

peasant crown probably isn't worth the lost of the complete setbonusses. You will have to pick one. With the set or without, combining is rarely the way to go.

P.S. guillame's for a merc is good, the crushing blow will make him do lots more damage.

Quite right. Well then I guess asking Larzuk to punch a hole in it will give you +18Resist with 1 Perfect Diamond.
