Orber Dueling Help Needed

Hey guys,

I'm currently dueling with a pure Orber. Shes level 81 and has the following skills:

20 ice bolt
20 frozen orb
20 cold mastery
20 telekinesis
01 Energy Shield
01 Warmth and prerequisites
02 skill points unspent
~80 stat points unspent

She's wearing:

Shako
+2 Sorc +10fcr Amulet
+15% +3 Energy Shield 15% Regerate Mana Ormus
Oculus
Lidless (P. Diamond)
Arachnids
SOJ x2
Sandstorm Trek
Magefists

7 Cold skill charms
20/15/9 Annihilus
Random other charms

I come out with about 900- life and about 1000- mana. I have bad resist except for 75% Poison Resist. I teleport near free. I hit for about 900 with orb and the mastery is at around 200-210%.

Here's my problem:

All of my duels are one sided; either I completely dominate, or get the crap beaten out of me. In particular, I'm looking for some strategies against these builds:

TrapSins: All the ones with decent trap damage have destroyed me. They just sit in the middle of the traps and I can't do anything about it. I'm thinking maybe more FHR, but everytime I stop teleing to Orb i get smacked.

Fireball Sorcs: After they put on their 2x Ravenfrost, this duel doesn't go well for me. The main thing is when I orb, that time that it takes before I can tele again, they tele on top of me and down me in 1 or 2 18k balls.

Skellimancers: I got marauded by one of these the other day. He was lower resist/poison nova/teleskellie. I killed 2 skeletons in like a minute and a half before he hit me with a nova and his fire golem killed me.

Bowazons: Yeah...they're not supposed to be very good, but this one that I dueled was really good...she was using probably WF and took me out in 3-4 hits. I could avoid the GA, but as soon as I orb, I'd get hit. Again, I don't have enough time to tele again because of the delay of Frozen Orb.

Wind Druids: They have cyclone. I can't kill it. Turns out I just tele away and orb at their armor while they try to catch me and recast cyclone. This duel is rather pointless.

I've pretty much had a good time against Bonemancers (even teleing ones), almost all barbs, and weaker versions of the above. I lost to a WWsin, but I should win those.

Anyways, I could use some tips and strategies against those builds that I mentioned, as well as any suggestions in equipment or my char in general. No, I don't have Nightwing or Fathom or 5/5 facts.

Thanks for looking,
Ed

hehe...i have almost the same type of char, but one thing i (thank gad) invested in has helped me with many of the problems you're encountering...after orb was maxed, i started maxing bliz. If you want a versatile orber, remake her with bliz. but, here's what i can say about dueling these types of chars w/o bliz...

Trapsins: if they cast traps and wait...let them. Theyre in no rush, why should you be? stay away, and stay clear of the traps. When they come close to check on you or attack you, cast orb n run
FB sorc: if they sorb you, first of all, don't worry if they beat you...cause they didnt. the r frosts did. What i would do here is tele tele tele, make them follow you, but odont stop. Then start getting ahead and firing some orbs in your wake. If you do it enough, they don't have time to cast fb, because you're leading where they go. If you can't kill them, at least don't stay still enough for them to kill you.
Skellimancers: same thing as fb sorc, tele away, let them follow, and orb. The skeles may lag you, tho (happens alot to me)...but that's the only real problem. Also, if you have E shield, cat it here and bring along some mana pots.
Bowazons:they are usually stationary shooters. Tele out of their screen (so they cant see you on the map...wait a few seconds, they'll get bored and stop firing. Then, tele real quick near them and get them with and orb, then run back.
Wind Druids: This is where bliz would come in handy. Usually, though, they'll get impatient if you dont stay still long enough for them to get you iwth a nado. Like with the fb sorc, just tele away and shoot, then tele, shoot...Theyre usually trying to keep up with you, so they forget to cast cyclone armor. Eventually, if you are quick enough, they can't beat you on this

Ah.. a trapsin that sits and waits is a death penalty for orber... Hard to even gain ground enough so your FO will even land atleast 1 bolt...
FB sorcs ya I know what you mean, but you just gotta learn the ways to evade... My advice is don't tele around so much, just run around real close, than back up suddenly, cast FO in their UGLY FACE that looks just like yours, and B-A-I-L!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can't outrun a fb, I don't think you have enough fcr...
PNova / teleskellies are a KILLER build... They tele right on top of you and all their skellies attack you at once while the nec is spamming PNova.. If you stop to FO there, you will die. Just tele away as much as you can, fake a tele or two, pretending you're teleing in a straight line and than suddenly backing up to meet nec face to face, lande a FO, then B-O-O-K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wind Druids all cold sorcs have EXTREME time against, because CM doesn't work on cyclone armor, along as well as conviction from FOHers.
WWsins ya you should own, and same w/ bowazons. GOOD LUCK!

It looks to me like you built your sorc focusing too much on dmg and not enough on survival. Simple changes such as switching out ormus for vipermagi will boost your resist not to mention granting some MDR. The extra 10% FCR from viper will allow you to use maras instead of a FCR amulet and suddenly your resists will be pretty good. This still leaves the problem of blockings. Without block, you are pretty much cannon fodder for zons, windies, telebarbs, any pally with charge, wwsins and kickers. That's a lot of classes!

I'm working on an orb sorc right now and she will be geared toward survival...

-shako
-maras
-wizspike (I love em)
-storm
-vipermagi
-magefist
-arachnidmesh
-rings flexible according to matchup
-my boots will probably be some rares or crafts with good FHR

This setup grants block, 45% DR, 8 frame casting, full resists with cold and lightning stack and 800 dmg orb (with charms). For a small decrease in dmg you can build a much more durable sorc.

Well the thing is i dont plan on being hit, ya my res arent to great though.
I'm keeping a Upgraded 50res Viper in my stash for elementals, and i got a 20res anni, and 9' 5res scs, But the thing that really helps is my rings giving me 15+ all res each, ya i kinda got a no dex build so if i get hit melee im in trouble. and wiz pike req's like 90ish dex so cany use that (i only placed 20 points in str in all the rest in vita)

I think im gonna use a 15/15 cold faceted Head Hunters 4 a shield if no has an opinon on that, ive also been looking 4 a 70res sancuary if any1's selling

ya well hes Lvl 70 now so almost finished i think its gonna work so thx

You are right about Cyclone Armor. It abosrbs any fire, cold or lightning damage at 0 resistances and since you have to rely on CM because orb damage is never very high at all, I would really think you need a good blizzard to own those PNova/teleskellies build like about 8k blizzard will make that powerful necromancer regret ever landing on top of you because that blizzard will decimate that bastard. Yeah, WWsins shouldn't be a problem, you tele way faster than they do and their resists most often suck like crap it should be a 1hit ko. Bowazons should never pose a threat to you, get a few screens away, do you don't end up teleing the whole time instead of attacking then first hit them with a blizzard because this will throw the zon in a dodge long enough to orb them to death or the blizzard will 1hit KO them because again bowazons resists suck major crap. Trappers are wimps because you can just go around by using the cold plains wp and then FO them to death, but they often have much better resists than the druids, zons, or other sins. FB sorcs can be very difficult becuase 3 thinks: they cast way faster than you ever will, their dmg in insane, and their resists can be very high.
