The arguement i've heard a little of about something like this giving more targets to tppkers just doesnt hold water for me.

Think about it...
you're in an 8 player public baalrun

You dont use chicken...
6 of the guys in your party DO use chicken
the other guy is that suspicious bonemancer

if those 6 chicken users leave at the very moment he hostiles, who do you think is going to get smacked up?

Its true that tppks will have more joy if chickeners stop using. But whats so terrible about one bunch of cowardly cheaters getting killed by another bunch of cowardly cheaters?

I have as much respect for chickeners as I have for those who use tppk...
Let them kill each other

- why kill chickens?
- i wanna eat them!

Yeah, a great idea to ruin every pubbie before chickens are all gone, and to make PK easier once chickens are all gone.

I think the thing about chicken hack that is so irritating is that this is *hardcore*. If you don't want to die, play *softcore*.

The only wrinkle in that argument, of course, is TPPK and other BS tactics... it's hard to blame people for wanting to avoid malicious cheaters.

Soooo.... Conner, the real challenge is simply to come up with a bot to kill TPPKers! Get on it, son! :flip: After you cleanse the realms of the TPPK cheese, then take on the chickenhackers.

There is no possible way to develop a system to kill TPPKs. The only people that can kill TPPKers just aren't gonna do it.

You know Djinni has a very very valid argument. I immediately thought of a real world example.

In Africa, there are these big cats call Lions. They go hunting after herds of water buffalo, right? The buffalo are pretty dumb creatures, and typically they just stand around while the Lion is right next to their herd! The Lion makes it's attempt to strike and they all run off. Typically it's the sick or disabled that get eaten. Safety in numbers.

In Diablo, it's the TPPK that stands around a clueless party. He makes his strike attempt and the Chickens all run off. Leaving the poor legit standing there waiting to be eaten.

I'd urge every HC player who likes to die to TPPK please do so as early as possible, to fulfil your deeds and your ultimate HC mission (=you dying to TPPK).

that's not true. And you knew that because you continued to write the following:

The only people that can kill TPPKers just aren't gonna do it.
Yes, TPPK can be extinguished but Blizz has been tolerating it.

I would never think that way.

A wild lion is a real wild lion, but a TPPK'er is at most only a paper tiger. Under the cover of TPPk you probably can only find a player who is ultimately bored of playing the game in legit way. Today's legit d2 players still enjoy playing the game, so they continue playing it - they know exactly what they do. But TPPK is nothing but an illegit trick (script) with which a TPPK'er harasses other players and ruins their day. TPPK'ers are not clueless only in terms that they have only one goal left with the game: ruin others' fun.

If a TPPk'er is not a paper tiger, he would have gone for legit dueling.

HCTwinJava: If you're going to excerpt from my post, at least copy my entire comment. What I said was:

>>>I think the thing about chicken hack that is so irritating is that this is

>>>The only wrinkle in that argument, of course, is TPPK and other BS

If you'd read my post fully, I think you would have realized that we're on the same page.

As far as the argument that TPPKers are like lions... well, that's a stretch. A better analogy would be TPPKers = suicide bombers. Except, unfortunately, they don't die along with their prey.

I think there are people out there who can turn any post into a debate/rant about tppk'ers...

Example:

Post 1: How do I build a good orb sorceress?

Reply: Use orb/telekenesis/etc. BTW, watch out for tppk'ers.

2nd Reply: Ya, tppk'ers are ruining the game blah blah blah...

From there, it takes on a life of its own.

Bottom line: Ya tppk sucks, but this thread had NOTHING to do with tppk until someone hijacked it.

Good lord, it's just an example. I could equate them to the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man if you really want. Just that that is what they reminded me of. Watch the Animal Planet channel... that's exactly what people remind me of. Water Buffalo sitting around going about their business, and along comes a Lion (Something you KNOW WILL EAT YOU) and you still sit there.

I am NOT saying they are like a Lion, the King of the Jungle bro. It just looks like that situation.

And Java, you got it right. The only people that CAN kill the TPPK is Blizzard. The manufacturer with the strictest Anti-Hack Policy in the Biz is Blizz. Actually, they are the only ones that post it and never follow through. Name another manufacturer that does this, and I bet you can't!

Edit: Wait. Blizzard North = Owned by Vivendi = French Company = French = Staunch policy of Appeasement and Ambivolence! Woah, I get it!

To get back to the original point of the topic, in 1st season on west near the end there was a guy who did just this. Named "hostilebot" or some such thing.

Some level 50ish barb, IIRC.

It DID seem like too good of an idea to not have been tried. As far as being trained to save&exit, no one is faster on the draw than me- BUT, if I'm in town, or by meeself in my favorite areas in pubbies (act3...) when the horn goes off, I just keep an eye on the automap and keep playing. If Blizz isn't going to stop the spam-bots, pindelbots, andybots, gamblebots, whackoffbots, and whatever else is out there, what's one more. No skin off my nose.

Good on ya' Conner!
